I visited on Thursday with my boyfriend and we found Decanter to be magical.

The service is friendly, warm, and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is relaxed and stylish.

On the food front, we opted for small plates, all of which were delicious. The fish tacos were the highlight.

It was great to see wine from countries often neglected in the UK, and our North Macedonian white offers a fine reward for the brave drinker. Cocktails were refined, imaginative, and tasty.

Overall, a great experience. I'll be back as often as I can and when visits home allow me.

Our go to place! Our absolute favourite local. An amazing selection of wine and beer, and the team know everything about everything! We had a gorgeous cheese platter, olives and almond snacks and they also have Bellfield beer on draught (GF and and the best local beer!!) and just the most incredible wine selection. 100% authentic best night every time.

A good place for small plates and cocktails. We visited a month ago and ordered several dishes. We loved the fish tacos and sticky toffee pudding the best. The fish tacos were beyond expectation, the fish got a crispy coating and was tender in texture, complimented with an appetising dressing and good tortilla. The Thai monkfish and prawns skewers were also tasty with a nice green curry sauce. Haggis bon bons and patata riojana (with chorizo) were fine. My only complaint would be about the buffalo chicken, it was dreadful as the meat was dry and tasteless and the coat was soaked, unfortunately a stain on a very good meal. Staff are very welcoming and we will definitely return anyway.

I cannot recommend this place enough! The staff are absolutely fantastic. I’m typically a white wine drinker, but since meeting the fabulous Maria and her brother Johnny, they’ve introduced me to a newfound love for red wine, and now I’m happily working my way through their cocktail list. 🍷🍸

I’m consistently blown away by the exceptional service, the incredible food, and the delicious drinks. If you're looking for the next big spot, do yourself a favor and try this place. It’s simply amazing. Thank you again to the entire team—I’ve always had a fantastic time here! 🙌

I recently traveled to Edinburgh to celebrate my 60th birthday, and after careful consideration, I chose Decanter for a few key reasons:
One of my companions is vegan.
The impressive menu variety.
The glowing reviews.
Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. Our server (whose name I regret not remembering—she was exceptional!) provided outstanding service. The food was phenomenal, the wine and whiskey recommendations were spot-on, and a special bottle of champagne, gifted by a dear friend who couldn’t join us, added an unforgettable touch to the celebration. The warm, inviting atmosphere tied it all together beautifully.
Words can hardly capture how brilliant the experience was. I’m already planning a return to Edinburgh in the summer of 2025, and Decanter is at the top of my must-visit list.
