Conveniently located in Doncaster's Cultural Quarter, Danum Gallery, Library & Museum has lots of interesting displays about Doncaster's history, from railway locomotives to paintings. There is plenty to hold the interest.
The staff are welcoming and helpful.
Free to visit.
Definitely worth calling in if you are in Doncaster.

Excellent museum and library with preserved frontage from the old grammar school. Extensive displays on the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and the towns railway history, including two steam locomotives. Lots of interactive stuff and an art gallery on the top floor. Spend a couple of hours here and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Five stars and well deserved

Came for the Nigel Gresley exhibition and loved the entire building, amazing the way they've incorporated the former girls school into the new build. Its nicely divided into seperate sections with rail heritage and military history downstairs, more general Doncaster history in the middle and art gallery upstairs. Friendly service in the cafe and the cheesecake was delicious. Only criticism was we had a wait at the gift shop as the member of staff had gone missing.

Why has it taken us so long to finally get here?! Lovely building, well laid out and lots to see - for free! The library was 10/10 and great for kids. The museum is small but perfectly formed. You could easily pass 60 to 90 mins in here.

Superb facility. Very interesting galleries and exhibitions in the museum. Lifts to all levels. One of those places something for everyone: art, military, local history and culture, railway memorabilia, including couple of locomotives. Has large garden space that had creative yarn bombing on display. Interesting combination of architecture with the old facade encased in the new. Was very impressed with the whole set up. Has been very well done and carefully presented.

Not just a library, but also a museum, gallery, timeline of Doncaster and a cafe.

Railway engines and memorabilia, the King's own Yorkshire Light Infantry museum and much more.

The timeline is great for children & adults to find out more about the history of the area through the ages.

We often just meet up with friends for a coffee and cake.

Wow, what an absolute gem of a building! Converted from a girls school and sympathetically developed, it retains lots of original features such as the green tiles and staircases but is bright and light.
Set over 4 floors it includes a lovely library, museum, art gallery, coffee shop and in the lower level there is a Railway Heritage Centre and the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry Regimental Museum.
I started at the top with a visit to the Art Gallery which featured sculpture and paintings, a new exhibition of the work of Janet Samson plus work by local groups.
The next floor down was the local history section with a new exhibition about the miners strike.
On the ground floor there’s the library with a very impressive display of lamps on the wall; there’s also a very busy cafe plus work area.
Down the final flight of steps and you are presented with 2 train engines and lots of railway memorabilia.
Tucked away in the corner is the entry to the military museum.
There are friendly members of staff on each floor.
I will definitely be making a return visit!
