This is my favourite local business for a lot of very good reasons. If I had to sum up the roastery and the cafe in one word: masterful.

Dave is so passionate and good at what he does. Such a keen eye for sourcing wonderful green beans combined with his skillful choice in roast profile creates coffee with so much depth of taste that never disappoints.

Tony, Rosie and everyone at the cafe expertly take said coffee and brew/pull such wonderful drinks from it. Even their milk based drinks like flat whites retain that taste depth which is no easy feat. To top it off, the cakes and pastries are unrivaled.

Crankhouse is one of the loveliest little gems in Exeter! I've met some of the nicest people in here and had one of the best cups of coffee. I couldnt recommend this lovely place enough, definitely try the cardamom bun too, they're divine. Recently moved to London, missing this place very much and still on the hunt for a cup of coffee as good as Crankhouse!

Lovely coffee shop in Exeter. The staff are super nice, friendly and knowledgable. It's not easy to find handrip coffee in UK but Crankhouse offer one of the best drip coffee with choices. Beans from all around the world. Roasted on-site. I strongly recommend her coffee lover. You wouldn't be disappointed! And the prices are very reasonable as compared to my home city, Hong Kong 😄

I don’t know too much about how good a coffee can be. However the staff here are really kind and they always be thoughtful to offer a glass of cold water with the coffee to help with cleanse the taste afterwards. It’s a pretty coffee shop.
