20/10 update. Last week frozen chips were £1.45 today £1.60 per 750g !! £2 just for Christmas? Why shopping local if prices are doubled in compare to Aldi/Lidl

Lovely local shop with very helpful staff. but why is it soo expensive!?
How can we shop local if the prices jumps 50% in 5 months?
Frozen fries from £1 to £1.45. Bread £1.70 to £2.40!

The Cooperative has got the nasty habit of nesting their shops into small, often isolated villages where they can ask exorbitant prices for their goods. Especially the elderly and less mobile customers are then forced to buy there and swiftly part with their money during the weekly shopping. In this particular case the shop is a slap in any Coldstreamer's face. The freezers are regularly failing, items like ice cream and other frozen stuff are clearly defrosting on a regular basis and are then sold at lower prices, but sold nevertheless. Maybe it would be possible to get the hardware in this outlet up to a standard that ought to be expected from a modern shop, which in turn may enable the Coop to sell their milk, bread and yogurts at half of the current price, just like Lidl does with their, better quality, items, only ten miles away in Kelso.
