I visited Colney Butchers on Sunday morning at opening time. The owner was polite and courteous despite still busy with activities of opening the shop. He explained that the meat is HMC approved and that the store is inspected weekly to ensure compliance. Also supplied in the store is a good selection of basic items from spices and shan masalas to flour, rice and snacks. Fresh items such as Coriander and green chillies which is probably all that you need without needing to venture out further.

It isn't your typical desi place where meat cleavers are flying about and offcuts are thrown about the place, really this is a very clean and properly organised and maintained place. They sell the usual cuts of meat, plus if you like steaks, you won't be disappointed with a selection of cuts available including T-Bone, Fillet, Sirloin etc.

I needed Chicken legs for my BBQ. I was given good advice on what marinade to use, so I purchased some from the same place. They sell in-house sausages (lamb and beef mix), so I bought some to try. Both items were BBQ'd the same day, and we had received many compliments from the guests (as well as from the Mrs!).

I was told that if there is anything we need pre-marinated or prepared that we can call in advance and it will be ready to collect so there would be minimal time to wait.

Parking is free outside, or Co-Op isn't too far with an attached free car park.

Colney Butchers in London Colney provided an outstanding experience from start to finish. Their service was truly exceptional, far exceeding our expectations. The team took their time with us, ensuring we made the best choices for our barbecue, even going so far as to give us a demonstration of the burger sizes to help us select the right product. Their attention to detail and customer care were evident throughout the entire process. The boneless chicken shawarma they recommended was absolutely to die for—our guests couldn't stop raving about it. The lamb we purchased was equally delicious, tender, and flavorful, making our barbecue a massive success. We can't recommend Colney Butchers enough and are already looking forward to our next visit. Their quality products and personalised service have made us loyal customers for the long term!

Finally! The area has been crying out for a decent butchers and now there is one. Excellent quality, great selection of meats and it's clean. Everything a butcher should be. The local aunties will be very happy, and if the aunties are happy you know you're doing something right.
