We recently booked Clayhill for a 60th birthday party, and we couldn't have been happier. The price was so affordable for what we got; there was enough room for our guests, and everyone complimented the venue. We were treated so nicely by the owner and the staff in the lead-up to the party. We'd already been customers of Clayhill before and would highly recommend it as a venue in the future!

It somehow lacks a warm welcome- I can't explain it - several times we have been and the service is "perfunctary" - maybe we always go late and the servers are tired.
However- the cakes are delicious, view SPECTACULAR and we will be back regardless of the lack of warm greeting

This morning for the first tine I visited the café at Clayhill Vineyard with two friends, and it was a delightful experience. Nestled among rolling hills and lush grapevines, the café offers stunning panoramic views of the vineyard, creating the perfect backdrop for a relaxed morning. We sat outside to fully enjoy the scenery, and the peaceful, open-air atmosphere made the visit even more enjoyable.

The coffee was rich and flavorful, served promptly by the friendly staff. I opted for a double espresso which was well-balanced and smooth. We also indulged in a selection of cakes. I chose a slice of lemon drizzle cake that was moist, tangy, and bursting with fresh citrus flavor. My friends went for the carrot cake and a chocolate brownie, both of which were equally indulgent and delicious.

The combination of excellent coffee, delectable cakes, and picturesque surroundings made the morning feel like a mini-retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall relaxed vibe. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee stop or a leisurely afternoon with friends, Clayhill Vineyard Café is a fantastic choice, offering both great food and unbeatable views. I will definitely be returning.

I really wanted to leave a positive review like so many others, but unfortunately, our experience today was very disappointing—despite the staff being lovely.

We were seated at the best table with a great view, but before I even sat down, I noticed two flies on the window next to us. The waitress managed to get one, and I dealt with the other.

We ordered two cappuccinos, but they didn’t arrive—even after our sandwiches were served. After waiting 30 minutes, we reminded the staff about our coffees. Ten minutes later, we reminded them again. When they finally arrived, they were cold and overly milky. The waitress apologised, explaining that the chocolate on top had curdled. We sent them back, and she assured us the coffee would be on the house—though we were already on an unlimited drinks package with our afternoon tea. Eventually received a black coffee and a tea instead.

The sandwiches were lovely, but when we asked for clean plates for the cakes, there was another delay. We also requested a knife for the scones, but it never arrived. The final straw was when the waitress returned without the knives, and at that point, I just couldn’t cope with the constant issues anymore. It was exhausting, and we had to leave.

To their credit, they refunded my deposit, and the staff were genuinely kind. However, the service was so poor that it completely overshadowed the experience. Such a shame, as I really wanted to love this place.

Cakes looked great, unfortunately didn't try them due to nut Allergies.. but would Cater if phoned in advance which is a nice touch to know.

Oh ...an you must try the icecream.

Got engaged out side with such a beautiful view. Food was lovely and quick service. Staff was amazing welcoming and super friendly. Price was more than fair and after our meal we was given a bottle of their own sparkling white wine. Cannot recommend enough.

First time for us and would thoroughly recommend it. We visited on a beautiful September day and the views were marvellous looking down the river, across to Kent and further right to Southend. Lovely big bunches of grapes on the vines too. We sat outside but inside was roomy and very clean looking, good selection of drinks and cakes etc. Only noticed one toilet which was disabled/unisex/baby changing. Polite staff. Well worth a visit.
