A regency period country house hotel which retains some of the original features with some modern additions to the rear adding extra space for function rooms and a plethora of bedrooms.
Friendly staff and excellent evening food, breakfast was also a delicious treat. I understand that they also source the ingredients from local suppliers.
Large spacious bedroom room and bathroom although the décor was a little dated but fitted our need perfectly.

Staff very friendly and helpful. A beautiful old house in a lovely location, conveniently situated for M4 heading south. Food was delicious, albeit a little pricey. The sirloin steak wax excellent & cooked perfectly. Breakfast should be served from 7am, not 8 as we had to leave at 7:30 so missed out.

We were a group of three cycling the King Alfred’s Way. We arrived late, with dirty bike and dirty clothes. ||The staff could not be more welcoming. They offered us towels to clean up before we checked in. Gave us refreshments, again before we were checked in. Helped us with cleaning facilities and storage facilities for the bikes. There was no request that was too much for the team who were on during the evening and night we stayed. ||BTW, I only wrote reviews when I get exceptional service. If you get service that is half as good, you can be confident of a great experience.

Went here 6th September to 8th September, for my daughters wedding.
We arrived Friday evening and booked in.
Our room was very nice, a large bedroom and an equally large bathroom.
The bedroom had a king-size bed, bedside cabinets and a couple of chairs, a desk and chair, tea and coffee and sundries, and a proper kettle.
The one thing I did notice was that there weren't any drawers, and the only clothes hanging was in a cupboard in the bathroom, which also had an ironing board and iron in it.
The bathroom had a bath, shower cubicle, wash basin, and a very ornate toilet and bidet.

Had a delicious afternoon tea for my mums birthday. My wife didn’t eat met but was fine with fish so they were very accommodating. |When we booked I was able to talk about where we could sit as I like the window seats, this was no problem and there was no sense of impatience at all.||We were greeted warmly and shown to our table which was perfect. Tea and coffee arrived soon after and then a glass of champagne which was delicious. The food then arrived soon after and the loverly Amanda (who by the way was excellent and a Credit to the hotel) explained what was in the sandwiches and what the cakes were.||All in all a lovely experience. my wife and I have had at least 6 afternoon teas over the years and the service has been consistently excellent. ||Once again Thankyou to Amanda for making our day perfect.

Once again an extortionate pet fee - for what ? We only had our small cockerpoo with us - no dirty areas or extra work required by the hotel or staff… would these places charge for a baby in the room? !? Its about time this anti pet owner practice is banned!

Large comfortable room, excellent hot shower with good water pressure, very clean. Best however was the staff especially the lovely woman at the reception desk.
