This place couldn't have better customer service if they tried, helpful on the phone and in person. I knew roughly what I wanted and the friendly salesman confirmed my suspicions about the Honda Petrol Mowers being the most reliable and longest warranty wise. Very good prices as well and they even tested it before helping me load it into my car. Highly recommend!

Recently took a hedge trimmer and lawn mower into CGN for repair, job number 8422. The hedge trimmer was several years old and I suspected the motor was 'goosed', the lawn mower had been purchased online through a different company whose customer support effort was 'find a dealer who will honor warranty repairs'.... they will be the subject to a separate negative review. Anyway, entered the premises wishing I had bought the lawn mower here. The staff member, very professional, gave me a bit of 'slap on the wrist' for purchasing online, so saving a few quid, then coming here to get machine sorted under warranty. I agreed with him.
Later that day had a phone call, yes, the hedge trimmer motor is u/s and it would cost more than the price of a new trimmer to fix it... agreed that CGN could dispose.
Fast forward 4 plus weeks, nothing heard from CGN regarding lawn mower, so I rang asking for a progress report, answer was 'no fault found' and please collect. I was incredulous, as an engineer myself I knew there was an intermittent fault.
Got mower home, same fault manifests itself, my wife (groom... not a technician) 'sussed' that if the orange button on the switch assembly is kept engage then the fault no longer present.... so obviously a fault with the 'starter switch' assembly. I can only surmise that the 4 plus week testing regime was not 'under load' or under real-world conditions..... warranty repair...not interested!
2 stars for being prompt with hedge trimmer diagnosis, but very disappointed overall!

Follow up: 27/07/2024.

I'd like to thank the Manager, Bruce, at CGN for his comments and commitment tin resolving this issue. Happy to say that the mower issue has now been resolved and I would be more than happy to engage CGN in the future.

I'm very impressed with the service here! The two guys I met were friendly and enthusiastic. I called first to ask if they had a part I needed for my chainsaw. As I described the part, the Parts guy quoted me the part number immediately, the price and then confirmed they had it in stock!
When I went over to purchase the part, it was waiting for me at the counter.
I subsequently needed a bit of help to fit the part which they did for me free of charge. All of this was done with a smile and a laugh. It's just so unusual these days and I will definitely be back for all my garden equipment in future even though they are much further away than my current supplier. I have no hesitation recommending this garden machinery centre. (Parking is easy too).

Following the case and objecting to my position does not alter the facts.
You have threatened me. You have stated that you are holding my machine until I pay for a new battery. In the professional world I work in that is threatening and bullying.

You have agreed that two key ignitions broke. Should they on a new machine? Are you accusing the operator of breaking them? If so, how realistically does that happen? With a knife? My fingers? Did you see spanner marks on them? Please do explain.

Regards the faulty battery, did you call you ask if I was happy for a new one to be fitted before proceeding? No you did not. I tested the battery before calling you and it was fully charged according to my reader. Did you charge me the cost of a new battery when you went ahead with no permission? No, you didn’t. You charged almost double what it costs me to buy one suitable for the machine.

Appalling customer service. Half hearted Ed narrative of the events, whether you followed them or not!

Other than a few spares now and again, I haven't actually bought anything from them, but I'm writing this review because without fail, the staff there have been very generous in sharing their knowledge. They give an honest opinion and are quite happy to tell you what you can do without insisting that you bring your machine to them to fix. Such an attitude is very refreshing and will ensure that they're the 1st port of call for me when I need to buy anything.
