Amazing building, I went for a special event and loved the place... there are some wonderful family pictures to view with royalty. I didn't see the entire house but what I did see was beautiful.

It's a gorgeous looking building and I'm sure if you were a guest at a wedding (and you're able-bodied) it'd feel like being a member of royalty for a day.

However, if you're a prospective couple looking to hire this venue some things to bare in mind.

1. The rooms that you have to pay for to secure the venue have been taken straight out of a museum and are in need of serious renovation. Carpeted bathrooms (?), extremely worn furnishings, and in places the creepiest of all paintings hanging everywhere. One is of a child which hangs right above the bridal suite bed.... Not exactly romantic.

2. Most damming however, is the serious lacking accessibility of the venue. I fully appreciate that it's a grade 1 listed building, that means you can't just slap on a stair lift any kind of lift where you want. However, I'm unsure if the venue really has done everything that's reasonably possible to make a venue, that's opening itself as a buisness to the public, as accessible as it can. There are good decent mobile stair lifts that they could invest in, efforts could be made to preserve the staircases indoors by having ramps installed. They do have an evacuation chair apparently but if it's like those you get in hospital they're hardly dignified enough to take your loved ones around in.

A real shame, I'm sure others can look over the rooms and if you're able to get about then it's wonderful.

Came here for an outdoor cinema date, great setting with some lovely food. The screen could have faced the estate for a better backdrop as the night drew in

Beautiful historic building and lots of character and charm, amazing for weddings especially photography for couple shoots, has royal connections and a large estate with beautiful grounds.

We got married here in January 23 and it was incredible. It was actually the first venue we looked at and we walked out of our tour just knowing it was the one. After visiting several venues we came back and booked Carlton Towers. From start to finish they could not have been more helpful with organising the wedding. I emailed so many times with questions and changes and was never made to feel like I was annoying. The food was perfection and the portions were perfect - no one was hungry! The day itself ran so smoothly, all the guests were well looked after, the venue was just perfection. The staff genuinely shared our enthusiasm for our wedding and the atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish. These people genuinely want you to have the best day of your life and will do everything they can to make that happen. I don’t have a single bad thing to say. Thank you so much Carlton Towers for giving us the best wedding I could have ever imagined. Xx

Oh, had to titter, some Phillistine described it in a review as "a little dated"!! It is a Grade 1 listed Gothic Revival Style building by architect Pugin who did Houses Of Parliament et al. "A little dated"... sorry, I'm still chuckling. Was here for the Classic Car Day. Massive queue for loos, everyone seemed to take forever. Looooong slow moving queue at the takeaway café. Apart from that, brilliant day. Paid a fiver for the 'house' tour and talk, you go into 7 rooms, including the entrance and vestibule, all on ground floor. The house is still a family home, so those rooms are off limits. Oodles of attractive and interesting (and some not) old vehicles to peruse, including some bikies. Walled garden with scented roses and vineyard within. Fantastic sweeping steps entrance to house with a grandly opulent, typically Puginesque doorway. Loved it. Knowledgeable guide. Was worth a fiver, and the vehicles were worth their fiver too.

Carlton Towers in the civil parish of Carlton, 5 miles south-east of Selby, North Yorkshire is a very large grade 1 listed country house in the Victorian Gothic-revival style, surrounded by a 250 acre park. In February 2023 we enjoyed a fabulous State Room experience with one night in a beautiful state room preceded by a superb 3 course dinner presented exquisitely and served exceptionally by well trained professional staff. Highly recommend and not to be missed.

Fantastic location for a wedding. We went for a Friday and Saturday for a wedding weekend, and they literally could not do enough for you with the service. The location is stunning....historic yet welcoming, and very private and quiet. If you stay overnight, the rooms are all bespoke and fantastic in their own way. The food was amazing as well and great professional service. If you are looking for a great wedding venue or a unique weekend away, I would highly recommend this place!
