A bit overpriced for what we got

Steamy windows and packed seats is what drew us in - it's popular, so it's probably good was our rationale. Unfortunately we didn't come away all too impressed.

Pastrami and pickle sandwich, 6/10, it was OK, but didn't really feel like much effort went into it and at £8 I felt a bit short changed for what is essentially assembled supermarket ingredients.

club sandwich, 6/10, same story here

hot chocolate, 5/10, a bit watery, just tasted of sugar not a lot of chocolate taste, it was supposedly dark cherry but I couldn't taste that at all.

Overall, the wait staff were perfectly nice, they did come over to our table and serve us, and they made us feel welcome. I can understand everyone is trying to make a living, but either they're living in the future in Crieff and that's just inflation or there's a lack of choice such that they can get away with it. Either way, I think there are better café options out there.

Absolutely lovely cafe!
Stopped whilst in town on a break away to Scotland...the food is amazing, prices are very reasonable, staff were friendly towards our whole group and the doggo that came with us! Highly recommended to anyone thinking about stopping for some food and drink!
If I'm ever in town again I'll pop in 👌

Stopped off here on way to Crieff Hydro Hotel (4min drive from hotel). Gorgeous fresh food. A lovely little quirky cafe that we’ll return to before the end of our stay.

We came with a family group of 10 including dog and young children and they couldn’t be more accommodating. The kids food had lovely touches which really made the whole group smile. Thoughtful touches like the funky teaspoons make this place an absolute hidden gem. Fantastic cafe menu of sarnies, toasties, soups etc. with plenty of choice. Speedy, friendly service. Highly recommend!

Fantastic cafe. Great food and great service! My wife thought the Club Sandwich was the best she's ever had and the kids really enjoyed their toasted bagels and toastie. Excellent soup which went down well during a very cold day!

Recommended for a quick bite to eat when in Crieff

Food was really nice, home made tomato soup!

Echo what others say about the condensation issues, although overall good!

Great wee cafe to visit after a walk up The Knock. Very handy for those staying at Crieff Hydro and fancy a wonder into the town. Tasty paninis, good selection of homemade cakes and great coffee! Highly recommended the toffee cake! Free parking close by.

A Warm and Welcoming Dog-Friendly Gem – Café Rhubarb

I had the pleasure of visiting Café Rhubarb on a Saturday afternoon, and from the moment we stepped inside, we were met with a wonderfully warm welcome. Despite arriving after what must have been a busy period, we were greeted straight away with a friendly smile from the chap making coffee, who we later discovered was the owner. His kindness set the tone for our visit.

One of the highlights for me was how dog-friendly this café truly is. My large-breed dog was welcomed in without hesitation and even offered a treat, which instantly made us feel at home. It’s always a joy to find places that genuinely embrace four-legged customers as much as the two-legged ones!

Although we arrived after the kitchen had closed, that wasn’t an issue, as we were in the mood for drinks. We decided to try their specialty hot chocolates—chilli for me and orange for my friend—and wow, they were absolutely delicious. Rich, indulgent, and topped high with whipped cream, each came with a generous serving of mini marshmallows. For the quality and portion size, I was pleasantly surprised by the price, especially compared to what I usually pay in Glasgow.

The cakes, all homemade, looked incredible, making it tough to choose, but we finally settled on a classic Victoria sponge. It did not disappoint—a perfect example of a classic Victoria sponge, with a moist, slightly dense texture and a deliciously sweet filling. A real treat!

Beyond the food and drinks, the café itself has a lovely atmosphere—warm, cosy, and full of character. The décor is quirky and inviting, making it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. What truly makes Café Rhubarb stand out, though, is the people. Every member of staff was laid-back, friendly, and welcoming, creating a space where you feel like a valued guest rather than just a customer.

If you’re looking for a charming, dog-friendly café with excellent service, delicious homemade treats, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe, I can’t recommend Café Rhubarb enough. We’ll definitely be back!
