Purchased a ‘Divine Ginger’ loaf cake from Gloucester Services. Tried to eat it next day which was well within its use by date. Absolutely the driest, worst cake I have ever eaten. After a few slices over consecutive days, we gave up and threw it in the bin. For the price they charge, a total rip off.

Bought the lemon and elderflower cake from a local farm shop.very overpriced but thought it may taste worth the extra money, I was wrong. Really strange crumbly texture not like a sponge cake at all. Sickly sweet buttercream that hardly tasted of lemon let alone any hint of elderflower. Wouldn't buy again.

I bought one of their overpriced Victoria Raspberry Sponge cakes. It was one of the worst cakes I have ever had. It was drier than the Sahara and didn't taste very good either. Furthermore, the texture was very strange. It was sort of granular in the way a corn bread or polenta cake would be, except there was no cornmeal, polenta, or ground almonds in it (according to the ingredients list).

I would not recommend their cakes to anyone. And, if their other products are of the same quality, I would avoid those too.

We visited the shop in Buxton yesterday buying Buxton pudding (£6.99) and a tea loaf (£4.99). The ingredients looked good with no artificial ingredients nor seed oils just butter. Despite the lady in the shop saying how delicious the pudding was and how the hairy bikers had visited and made one, the actual pudding turns out to be dry dense flavourless stodge. It has gone in the bin. The tea loaf was slightly better and had at least some flavour despite being incredibly dry. Such a shame and a complete disappointment. The lesson is that no matter how bad your cake making skills are, they are bound to be better than these offerings and that's sad. How is this even a viable business?

We purchased two 150g cakes, nicely wrapped but not cheap while in Buxton. Also we got a Buxton pudding as a treat although a lot more than we usually would pay. On opening one of the cakes it was burnt and tasted very bitter and the supposedly Overfed Tipsy fruit cake had no taste of alcohol in it at all. The products all tasted stale even in date. Extremely disappointed and will not purchase them again . Was a bit of a rip off sadly.

I bought the rice pudding from the Gloucester service station farm shop, and I must say it was the biggest rip off ever. £3.25 for a 350ml pot, which would have been acceptable if it was any good. The rice was crunchy…yes CRUNCHY…undercooked. Very little flavour, no cinnamon or vanilla, which you might usually find in rice pudding. This was a very basic rice pudding, made worse by not being soft.

Just opened the Tipsy Fruit Cake. It must rate as the worst cake I have eaten. Dry, burnt with no taste. Do not waste your time or money on this bakery.
