Food looked unappetising on the plate, the meat was tough and seemed unsubstantial for the price. Service was slow. Waitress was a little 'over friendly' and yet failed to apologise for the delay. To be fair she probably doesn't get paid very much so I shouldn't criticise her too much. Not great for £50...At that price I didn't leave a tip.

On arrival the big seated garden and large kids play area (on the grass) was really busy. We stepped on inside to unfortunately be met with NOs when my friends requests for several beers he asked for @ the bar wasn't stocked !! John Smiths & Carling to name two. He perused the food menu and asked if roasts were still being served ? and opted for the roast beef (£15.99) picture ? supplied above. The barmaid didn't tell him he had to get his own cutlery, cos it wasn't brought out with the food & struggled to get his request for mint sauce met! But was supplied with a little pot which came out with the cutlery later. I myself prefer horseradish sauce on my roast beef, but each to their own......I asked him to rate it out of ten for the review and he gave it a 6/10.......There was bingo on inside the pub when we arrived @ 7pm. The barmaid was quite keen to promote this too me, to which I replied, "I've never seen bingo in a pub before ?" Lol. Go there on a Sunday night & you might win enough on the bingo to pay for their overpriced food.................

Sadly the ‘Dog friendly’ pub isn’t 100% dog friendly, we booked a table for a family gathering on the basis that we could take our dogs in to find the table was in a non dog area! After asking to move tables half the family were in the dog zone and the other in the none dog zone. Make sure you double and triple check if you book a table and want to bring your dog before hand.

Sunday lunch was cold and bland missing items like gravy and sauces. The trio of meat was a duo and did I mention it was cold.

While the ambiance was enjoyable and the presence of a children's play area was appreciated, the overall experience was mediocre.
The food quality did not meet expectations, and there were notable issues with the service. This included an instance where food was accidentally dropped during serving. Disappointingly, the dropped food items were not cleaned from the table during our time there, nor were they replaced.

Although the establishment shows promise, there is a clear need for enhancements in both food quality and service to elevate the overall dining experience.

Had to wait at the door for a member of staff to attend the booking in desk. Shown to our table, that had a mish mash of different seats, given our menus and asked if we would like to order drinks. A short while later a waitress asked if we were ready to order to which I replied yes and one other of our part of five asked what the soup of the day was. The waitress said she didn’t know but could find out. On her return she told us the soup was tomato then proceeded to take our orders. I asked for soup, fish bites meal to which she said unfortunately the breaded chicken and fish were not available do to having no bread crumbs or batter?. We all revised our choices with four having soup. When the soup arrived the bowls were very hot but the soup was tepid slightly spoiling the experience. After a lengthy wait our table was cleared an we waited our main course which we all enjoyed. Then another lengthy wait for our sweet course which was enjoyable despite the chocolate melt being overheated so the melting centre did no longer melt. All in all the experience was was spoilt by having too few staff for the number of bookings over the lunch time period as in the main the food was of a good standard despite the full menu it being available. Will I be booking again? I don’t think so as two visits in a month have thrown up the same problems.

Our party of eight had a lovely time over a long birthday lunch, with good food, good service and good ambiance. The meals had a certain freshness to them, especially the vegetables, although the beef was a little dry, but the gravy and horseradish made up for that. We eat in the dog-friendly area, which was more comfortable than most such areas.
