LESSON LEARNT, GARDEN READY PLANTS – I WOULD NOT BOTHER

My review is based on the 9cm garden ready plants. I ordered 10 plants from Brookside, 5 were ok and 5 Physostegia were in a dreadful state.
The main stems had been chopped off and sent as ‘garden ready’, the following day they started to deteriorate.

I contacted Brookside as advised in their correspondence along with pictures to show the state of the plants, challenging why on earth they had chopped off the main stems to fit into the capsule they pop the plants into. I advised they also started to go yellow. Probably from shock.

Brookside's response was they were trimmed to make the plants bushy, mmmmm.
these are now not garden ready as they would need to grow new stems from the bottom.

I already have the same plant from another nursery who are now out of stock and so I purchased from Brookside to ‘top’ up.

I appreciate that they have an award for plug plants, but 9cm pots maybe not.
I would suggest you seriously think about whether you want to use them for ‘garden ready plants’

Brookside have suggested I can always return the plants, but given the plants are in a sad state and their policy states they will only refund if the plants are in good condition, I will be throwing good money away by paying extra for postage.

So lesson learnt and never again!

I recently had my first order of plug plants. My first impression was they were not worth the money but a couple of weeks after being potted up they look really good. I will definitely order from them again

My order of 350 begonias came yesterday, in perfect condition inside a really solid cardboard outer. All pricked out into trays, a light watering to settle them in & the day after arriving you can see them just raring to go. Ordered from this company for a few years & after 45 yrs as a horticulturist I can safely say this firm is well on top of its game. 10/10.

This is the first time I've purchased plug plants from brookside nursery. They arrived well packaged to protect them from damage. The plants looked very healthy and i potted them a couple of days later. I look forward to ordering more next year. Highly recommended
