I try to avoid this shop as much as possible, The service in this shop is sooooo slow, normally only 1 person serving at the checkout. You can be guaranteed there will always be a long queue.

They urgently need 1 or 2 self service tills to enable people to get in and out quickly.

The pharmacy are under so much pressure with ever growing demand and more paperwork behind the scenes, but the staff still manage to greet with a smile and show kindness. I have heard members of the public be rude to staff and complain about the service. The pharmacy can only run well when the doctors and stock companies do their bit and are correct. I appreciate the hard work from Boots staff, front of house on your feet all day cannot be easy, especially whist organising medications and possible contraindications to keep patients safe. Then on-top managing patients expectations, tough job! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Update 13/12/2023 - Had a call back from Boots Customer Service to apologise for my experience. Good that they take the trouble to follow up. They have advised that they will speak with the pharmacist involved. Hopefully some lessons learned going forward.

Oroginal Review: Very poor experience with Boots Tenterden pharmacy. I'm on holiday with my extended family staying locally. On arrival yesterday I realised I had left my prescription migraine medication (sumatriptan) at home. This morning I woke with the telltale signs of a migraine. I went to Boots. Most chemists insist that you have a consultation with the pharmacist to verify that the medication is appropriate. At Boots you're required to fill in a form which covers 2 sides of A4 paper. The form is clearly designed to trip you up and has to be answered carefully. Once completed the form was taken to the pharmacist. I stood there for 5 minutes waiting. Eventually the pharmacist returned and refused to dispense the over-the-counter medication because I had answered a question in such a way that it "didn't comply with their licence". I challenged this politely and said that the answer was incorrect and that I should change it (related to the time your migraine lasts - which is ridiculous as taking the medication promptly can reduce the incident to a matter of a few hours). I had only had the symptoms for a matter of a few hours But I had incorrectly answered the question as 48 hours. Despite trying to explain myself the pharmacist refused to listen. I offered to show her my actual active repeat prescription on the NHS app and she simply wasn't interested. I'd filled in the form and she wasn't going to listen to supporting facts or consider any evidence - her mind was made up and she was not going to dispense the medication.
The perfect example of a jobsworth without humanity who served only to make my migraine worse.
Complete contrast with the other independent chemist in Tenterden, Paydens, where the pharmacist consulted with me asking all relevant questions ("are you pregnant" wasn't one of them, unlike Boots who asked me it) and treating me like an adult. Civil and efficient. It's clear why Boots has quite so many 1 star ratings and so many people state that Paydens is the better pharmacy to use.

The counter staff at this particular branch of boots were particularly rude and belligerent to my 80 year old elderly mother .The reason I know this is because I was listening on the phone as my mother was simply trying to buy some eye drops for my conjunctivitis.
I have never heard such aggressive behaviour come from somebody behind the counter based on a simple request.
My mum was trying to explain that I have red, sore eyes that are weeping and as I had used these particular drops before successfully I would like to purchase them again. I am self isolating as I have a daughter with stage 4 cancer and cannot go to the chemist myself. However, this was falling on deaf ears and they were trying to tell her that she needed to buy something that was not going to work for my eyes.
I asked my mum to put me on the phone so I could explain to them my symptoms and what I heard from the counter staff was beyond unbelievable, having worked in customer service and retail myself for a number of years I've never heard people speak to a customer in such a way they were beyond aggressive! my mother's mask had slipped up into her eyes and she was shouted at 'not take off her mask!' as she tried to adjust it. I would never allow someone to treat a customer with such disdain in my presence as a manager.
I'm bringing this to the attention of the head office as this is totally unbelievable. I feel that they need to either be trained in how to speak to customers with courtesy and respect or they shouldn't be in their jobs at all! I hope you find this review helpful.
Please do not allow counter staff to speak to you in that way bring it to the attention of the manager.

Very unhelpful, my elderly relative went in to see the chemist (as that’s the advise given to ease up the pressure for doctors) she was unbelievable helpful and the only thing she would say is go and see the doctor. She then asked the chemist have you atleast got anything I can buy to ease it untill then and without even looking the lady said no. Cannot believe the laziness of the chemist and I am absolutely disgusted. They seem to not want to help out.

Useless. Knowing that the online inventory info was unreliable, we called ahead of time to confirm that a medicine was in stock before driving 45 min to get the medicine needed for a sick child. When we got here, we were made to wait 15 min before being told that the medicine had expired and could not be dispensed, and the same medicine at lower dosage could not be given to help a sick child either because the “system wouldn’t allow it”. Incompetence, bureaucracy, and lack of compassion such as this are some of the reasons UK’s medical system and the economy at large are collapsing.

I had a problem with my pills. I had paid £9 for the prescription.
Took them back and said they are not working.
They gave me 7 from another box to see.
They were fine , they said see the Dr to make sure they are happy.
Dr was happy went to boots to tell them expecting the rest of the box in which she opened.
No had to go back to Dr get prescription.
Gave it to her then she said £9 please .
Hold on a minute.
I paid £9 once why do I have to pay again .
She made out that she was loosing money.
Silly cow.
Not using boots again , cancelled repeat prescription with them .
Rip off boots .
Hope it's your boots that closes down .
As if prescriptions aren't expensive enough .

It's boots! Sells everything you imagine boots to sell. Helps to have the boots advantage card to collect points. No parking really close unless you get lucky. Has a wheelchair friendly entrance.
