Stayed end of June ‘24. The place is quite tired. Lots worn things, toilet constantly running in the main bathroom, blind won’t open in the smaller twin to name a few issues.

Says free WiFi, but at less than 1mb down, it’s impossible to use. There is very limited mobile coverage too, so if you’re looking to disconnect then this is certainly the place.

The property itself feels like it’s stuck in 2005, with a very old TV in the lounge, and internet speeds to match.

Surroundings are beautiful and the sprawling lawn was great to sit and chat on.

We also took an inflatable kayak and paddle board up the river and back, which was fun.

Would I return? Probably not. It does have a lot of potential though.

Lovely house, this was our 4th stay at Baswick Steer, love that it's out in the country side and Mrs Voase was always on hand if we had any problems and is very friendly, thank you for the extra logs we loved the real open fire!!

Great big place with fab surroundings. We went in September and had a great time, especially in the games room, which was well used throughout the week by all. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you'd need, right down to plastic plate/cup/bowls for children. Our dogs loved the large garden and the country walks. Although it seems to be in the 'middle of nowhere' it is close to lots of attractions, which we took full advantage of. Would definitely recommend this as a place to go.

Often go there to use our paddle boards on the river. The roads are single lane to get to the rivers edge so drive carefully. The bank can get muddy, but the river is lovely there is lots of wildlife, plenty of birds flying around and in the summer dragon flys etc

Cottage booked for family celebration (6 adults 2 one year olds). Very well presented and stocked with kitchen equipment, was surprised how child friendly it was, including stair gates, high chair and travel cot. We had a problem with the boiler one night and the owners were straight there and made sure it was fixed, fantastic service! Lovely location for family walks and a short drive to a lovely village pub with great food.
