Our kids love it here just like us big people too. Food and coffee is amazing if you want Brunch/lunch or pick some local produce to take home for dinner. They have an amazing selection of butcher meat, home baking, fresh milk and ice cream.

Decided to take the kids today as I was local for the weekend and have to say it was a great experience. The food was well priced and tasted great and the animals and soft play an added bonus to burn them out while having fun. Great service from the staff and would recommend for families looking to spend a few hours out the house especially if local to the farm. We will defo be back.

Went along in a big group, mixture of children & adults. Lovely day with plenty to do given the reasonable entry fee per child. Lots of animals you can get up close to & lovely outside areas for kids to run around in.
The cafe was very nice with attentive staff & the prices were good. Quality was excellent.
Didn’t try to try soft play bus as it was a bit busy.
Plenty of parking & easy to find.
Will be back

Really terrible experience. Came with my husband and two toddlers. Ordered food eventually after a long wait for service, then waited 50 mins and asked the waiter how long the food would be as we had 2 small children who were really hungry and upset. We were told it would be 5 mins. We waited another ten mins before we asked again and were told it would now be another 10/15 mins. We then had to just leave with two hungry and upset children as they didn’t get to play either . Additionally to charge people £5 to see a couple of sheep is absolutely shocking. Will never be back.

We had an absolutely terrible experience at this place today, all due to one of their managers. His behaviour was unprofessional, rude, and downright disgusting. When I addressed how unacceptable his conduct was and mentioned that it wanted to make a formal complaint, he told me to leave. As I turned to walk away, he followed me and his aggression escalated, which made the whole situation genuinely frightening. I’m still in shock that this actually happened.

As much as we enjoyed the place and were looking forward to trying their food, it's safe to say we won’t be returning. After speaking with other mums and staff members, and reading previous reviews it seems this wasn’t an isolated incident with this particular manager. The business is clearly aware of the issue, yet it appears nothing is being done about it. Sadly, it seems like this won’t be the last time this happens.

If you do decide to visit, I just hope you're lucky enough to avoid dealing with him.

Visited here for the first time today as a couple to buy meats and fresh produce. Met the butcher who was extremely nice and very helpful we ended up buying a weeks supply of meats and even decided to stay for breakfast and coffee. I would like to say thank you to the staff particularly to the young boy who took our breakfast order and also came back to check it was ok he was so nice and to the lady who brought us the coffee just a great service and I have to say the best full Scottish breakfast I have ever had and I’m 53! My hubby agreed with me. There were a lot of mums with toddlers and babies which was lovely to see and the family atmosphere that that brought wish something like this was here when I was a new mum…..anyway we had a great experience came away with great food and will be returning each week to get our meats and supporting the local farmers..thank you Barmhill ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This farm has all the makings of a gem, let down by the terrible customer service of one very rude manager, and frankly a dangerous soft play that resulted in an injury which drew blood on our 1YO nephew who was under close supervision. It’s a shame as the produce, food and most notably Joe the Butcher are all wonderful and we’ve spent quite a lot with them over the past year.

Before leaving a negative review, I contacted Barnhill directly to request they dealt with our negative experience by putting measures in place (not looking for compensation) but it has gone unanswered for over a week.

Living locally, we are semi-regular visitors to Barnhill with our 2 young children (2yo & baby). For £5-7 for a wristband, it gets you access to a newly built indoor soft play/toy area, as well as bouncy castle, outside sandpit, softplay bus, ride ons, mini golf, go karts and some farm animals which you can buy feed for £2 for. The food has always been enjoyable with large portions, especially the coffee, cakes and ice cream. Is the service perfect, no, but the staff are friendly. I do agree to allowing young children to have their own snacks if the adults are purchasing meals as not all kids will eat a plate of food and prefer snacks, but we can’t fault them. They also have a great farm shop and butchers on site.
