We have been shopping at Antony Coate Butchers in Draycott for a few years now but sadly no longer.
Normally we do a month's shop . This last time the more mature assistant persuaded us to try Shoulder of Pork when I would usually buy loin of pork - he advised me to cook it slowly with apple sauce over it - before we knew the smoke alarms were going off and as for the pork it just fell to bits and was completely tasteless.
Our next disaster was the gammon steaks , as usual I soaked them in water for 24 hours before grilling, but on eating- the 'salt' taste nearly knocked us out - in the bin they went.
The final was the rump steak - we couldn't even get our steak knifes to cut through, never mind chew it .
Added to this the prices had increased.

I visited this butcher today for the first and probably the last time. I own a small business and several of my regular clients use this butcher and recommend them. So I won a voucher in a charity raffle. I go to the shop order what I want and when they ask how I am paying “ I have a voucher “. I felt very uncomfortable with his response. Where did you get that from? We get lots of fakes!!! So glad I didn’t go when it was busy would have been so embarrassing. Severely lacking at customer service skills I Won’t be going back

Excellent butchers. Wouldn’t go anywhere else, worth travelling from Long Eaton.
Homemade Burgers are 2nd to none and the lamb Koftas (home made) are brilliant. (Sadly none made to buy today).
We have had excellent service always and nothing is ever too much trouble. The boys always go the extra mile for their customers.
Definetly worth a visit.
