Ordered a box of sweets for a new years celebration 9 days prior to the expected delivery date. Nothing was delivered. I phoned and emailed SIX times the next day, hoping to find out what happened to the delivery. But despite several reassurances from their telephone answering service, no-one bothered to respond to my emails or calls.

4 generations of my family have ordered from Ambala, but no more. They ruined the centrepiece of a family celebration and didn't even have the grace to respond in a timely fashion.

Appalling customer service. Ordered a delivery for a Thursday and came the following Monday. Contacted customer services via telephone to request a refund a number of times and had no response. Failing that, emailed and no response whatsoever. Complete rudeness from the staff. Turns out that they lie to customers, telling them an order has been dispatched when in reality it hasn’t, and putting the blame on the courier company. Pathetic really. For a company that charges a premium price for a product, there should be a premium service. Maybe spend some money on the staff learning basic manners and etiquette. They truly are a joke. Avoid at all costs.

Had to give one star as there is no option to give no stars!!!

Really really poor service. This after paying pretty high delivery charge. We ordered for Diwali well ahead of time to be delivered 2 days before Diwali. They didn't deliver it. We gave them calls every day since and they kept giving false promises it will be delivered tomorrow. We understand its busy period so we patiently waited 5 more days. Nothing yet.

Then when you call them to cancel, they abruptly cut the call. When you finally get through they talk rude. If you cant deliver then offer at least an apology and refund. If you cant provide a service don't advertise you can and take money. It's called swindling. Please avoid.

Poor service all round...

1) Delivery was booked to arrive by 12 (paid extra), and it turned up an hour later!

2) When I called to check the tracking/progress of the order, I was told I would be called back, and never was!

3) When it did arrive (an hour late) I found it was correct! I ordered gift tins as part of an engagement gift, so people could have a memento/keepsake. They came in cardboard boxes you get in store.

4) Again I called to query this, the same woman responded.
She casually remarked, that someone else called with the same problem, as if it was an everyday occurrence. What the heck!?
I was simply told that the engagement part is only the card sleeve anyway. But I told her that wasn't the point! It was meant to be a keepsake, not a cardboard box that will be soaked through and chucked out!

5) I was told that she would leave a message for the manager (as he couldn't be reached), and they would see if the "could" get the tins out to me.

Stellar customer service well done!
I would not have placed the order for cardboard boxes, I didn't have time to pick them up otherwise I would have done it myself and saved the hassle.
I missed an appointment as a result - thank you again.

I love the stores, but the ordering service is abysmal.

Extremely disappointed with the security of how customer order and payment details are being kept by Ambala Foods' web site.

I made a large purchase and after completing my order, I noticed my order number/ID in the Web browser, out of curiosity, I changed this number and was shockingly presented with the private details of another customer.

I was able to see their full name, email address, postal address, full order breakdown with the gift notes and payment details used to make the purchase.

Further checks showed that they are using a severely out of date installation of the osCommerce software from 2003 to run their shop. This website software has a list of known serious security flaws, including the one I stumbled onto.

I filed a data breach report to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and asked my credit card company for a new card. I will not be buying from Ambala Foods' online store again.

I had a very good experience with Ambala foods. Customer service was excellent when i emailed them explaining problem with the order. Sweets are delicious and good quality. Very happy to have found an authentic place for Asian sweets. Highly recommended !

Best Indian sweet shop! I highly recommend the rasmalai everything is just amazing!! Only downside would be if you order online the delivery doesn’t come on the day you ask for it to come. Other than that 10/10!

The worst customer service. They keep lying to you and have excuses all the time. They promise to phone the next day and it carries on for weeks on end. Company of liars and ignorant people. Not helpful at all.
