First impression: It’s a mashup of Dick’s and Bass Pro but it’s more female-friendly, with Walmart prices on some items. Country music was playing, all female singers when I visited. There were a lot of men in there looking at the guns, hunting gear and all, but there were just as many women checking out the clothing, hunting gear and sporting goods.

While Bass Pro leaves me cold, Academy had me enjoying my shopping experience and they are stocked to the gills.

This week’s finds: Cute t-shirts for $4.99! (See photos.) Workout wear at great prices for all ages. Also Christmas stuff.

But my dad and my Alabama relatives who love hunting would be the most stoked about shopping the big glass case with pistols and also the shelves with rifles, ammo, decoys, scopes and such (see photos). There’s tons of fishing gear, too.

The store workers were very helpful when I asked about a potential gift idea. They didn’t pester me but when I had a question they were easy to find and eager to please. There were five individuals who helped me in one visit. Pretty impressive.

I’ll shop here again.

My cashier and the support staff was very helpful on trying to solve a price problem, when it became difficult to solve they asked the Team Lead- Olivia for help and she was sooo rude and vocally loud unprofessional in front of her team and multiple customers. Ruined our day and we were having a good one. We decided not to purchase anything ($200 worth) and walked out. Thank you to the cashier who was polite the entire time. Disappointed in Olivia (older women) for setting bad standards for her younger employees.

Only getting two stars because it’s a nice store, however the employees here are so rude especially the Indian woman, and older white woman in the pick up area, unprofessional didn’t say thank you or even greet me. Never even seemed like I was important to them I have ordered a lot of stuff from here and the overall experience from the staff is just rudeness and nasty attitudes.

Went to go see if they had any deals on 9mm I was in the area, and I’ve purchased two firearms and ammo from them previously. My brother liked a handgun and took a photo of it no one was in the pic just a pic of the firearm and the price, the associate said no pics of the firearms it caught me off guard so did a little research before saying anything couldn’t find any law posted in the store or online saying it’s illegal to take a pic of a firearm while considering on buying it. Associate was trying to be a superhero for nothing cause it’s a public store and anyone can come in and take pics of anything. Just a scared associate trying to act tough.

It's a lot! They have a lot of brand name items, sporting goods, everyday well presented and easy to get around however,
I'm just disappointed that the deals online weren't available at the store or they ran out of the item.

I am always shopping in this store and they have fantastic prices on firearms! I get all my clothing, ammo, fishing and workout equipment from Academy Sports! My favorite one stop shop!
