Since I cannot always travel to the centre of Newark, I decided to try online ordering from Porters website, which was super easy and straightforward. I opted for free collection from the Reindeer pub in Long Bennington, which added to the convenience since I live locally. The Lincolnshire sausages are truly exceptional and delicious - a top quality butcher with plenty of choice.

One of the best pork pies I have ever eaten in 50 years! Pastry looked a little dark but turned out to be perfect, the filling was a wonderful balance of jelly to meat giving, with the pastry, a perfect blend of textures and moisture in every mouthful. Seasoning was spot on and it was served by a lovely young lady equipped with the people skills to humor an indecisive eejit who just drove 150 miles without a break. Can I get one posted

I'm giving a five star review, but that is so as not to spoil things, it is based on past experience. We visited Newark recently and were absolutely delighted to see Porters Provisions back open, having been our go to butchers for good quality bacon. We bought a good quantity of short back smoked and unsmoked. However, upon cooking it over the coming days, it was clearly not up to the previous standard. Lots of water and white foam, as you get from cheap supermarket bacon. Very disappointed, and hoping that the previous quality level can be returned. In the meantime we won't be rushing back.

I no longer live in Newark, but was saddened to learn this quality shop had closed. I use to buy my fresh Yeast, when I had to take ingredients for cookery lesson at Mount School, or other items needed to make a cake etc. I am hoping that the new owners might offer a next day delivery service for the pork pies, bacon and sausages, also the chicken pies...as I would certainly order some. Good Luck and I sincerely hope that the local shoppers support you.

Welcome back Porters!!!! NOV 2024 Had a warm welcome to the newly opened shop. Bought fabulous hand carved ham (which never made it near the bread!! Oops!!) Also got a Steak and Kidney Pie, clearly made in the old fashioned way with slow cooked quality meat, fantastic flavour and pastry so short it melted in the mouth!! It was full of filling and irresistible. Buying extra next time!!! THANK YOU shop girls and to (East Drayton) Bluebells chef!!!

Just read the news that this place permanently closed. I'm so saddened by the news...! This place was an iconic shop at our town. I always got our tea and coffee here.. their summer/winter tea blend was one of a kind. I'm in disbelief that I won't be able to buy it anymore ...😭
