We had a wonderful anniversary meal at The Coal Shed. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful interior design which stylish, warm, and perfect for a special occasion.

The service was fantastic throughout. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and made us feel really welcome. As it was our anniversary, they even surprised us with a little dessert, which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch.

We both had steaks, and they were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly cooked & full of flavour. For sides I would particularly recommend the mac and cheese and creamy spinach.

Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. I would highly recommend The Coal Shed for anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting.

We went to the Coal Shed for an 80th birthday and it didn’t disappoint! The food was excellent, I started with the smoked beets and followed it with a beautifully cooked Ribeye. As with many places like this my main quibble would be that with the cost of the steaks and mains that they don’t come with at least one side. Other than that it was really nice meal.

Absolutely fabulous meal and fantastic service. A lovely atmosphere as well. My ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and the salty crust created by cooking over the fire was simply delicious. One of my favourite ways to enjoy a steak. The draft Guinness was exceptionally good for a restaurant as well - as good or if not better than some pubs. I would thoroughly recommend this place!

We did impromptu lunch.
I am very funny about steak have it very rarely and only when it’s really good reputation.
I ordered fillet and my partner ordered two sides.
the pulled beef croquettes and beef tartare.

Firstly the food looked great.
Service was a little slow and not super friendly.
But the food was the star.
The steak medium rare was excellent.
The peppercorn sauce is probably the best peppercorn sauce I’ve tasted ever. Regardless of where in the world.
(Spoilt a bit by the cornflower still undissolved in the bottom. But there was plenty of it to hide that)

The triple cooked chips were excellent.
The tartare looked amazing but a little disappointing for matching the taste.
The pulled beef croquettes style things although starter/sides were fantastic. And with the various sauces and dipped in the peppercorn, was divine.

We have been here many times for cocktails.
And I rate this random steak experience with close par to the a5 wagu I had in Maldives of all places!
Certainly the sides and sauce truly made it memorable.

I’ll be trying a more expensive cut next time I’m there.

The Coal Shed in Brighton is a true gem. I had been looking forward to having a meal at this renowned steakhouse, and I finally did—along with my partner and our three-year-old.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted in a warm and welcoming manner. The staff immediately showed they were very child-friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is simply fantastic—elegant, well-balanced in terms of lighting and decor, with a stylish yet cosy ambiance.

Now, onto the food. It was simply superb. From the starters (we had the sesame aubergine and beef tartare) to the perfectly cooked main meat cuts, as well as the thoughtfully crafted kids' menu, everything was beautifully presented and well-balanced in flavour. Each dish had a distinctive personality, as if every ingredient had been carefully chosen rather than just placed there by chance.

The customer service was also excellent—our server was attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire meal.

We ended our dining experience with cocktails, which were equally impressive.

Price-wise, I believe the cost is very fair for the quality you receive.

This is undoubtedly a place we will be returning to. Highly recommended!

We thoroughly enjoyed everything however, i had read a review about someone having an extra 15% tip added to their card charge so we made sure to check our bill and payment.

An additional 2 Carafes had been added to our bill, we did have 1 but the additional were different wines too so it wasn't just that the quanitity had been input accidently.
So we had an additional £75 on our bill...
we immediately spoke to the waiter who resolved it so truly would not prevent us returning. But was just a bit of a shame considering we had only double checked due to someone else's bill being incorrect.
It wasn't particularly busy either, we were told another tables drinks had been put on our bill so I guess just the staff need to be a bit more careful. And as customers CHECK YOUR BILL!

I visited this restaurant whilst in Brighton for a friend’s birthday and had a wonderful experience. The staff were super friendly and attentive, even allowing us to bring in a cake to celebrate whilst also bringing my friend a special birthday dessert on top.

I tried a couple of delicious cocktails, my favourite being the Spicy Guava Margarita and we shared lots of starters with my favourite being the Blue Prawn Toast! I had a lamb roast for my main which was probably the best roast I’ve ever had, even the carrots were incredible, although I would recommend adding an extra stuffing ball to the roast dinners.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful, the decoration was amazing and it felt super intimate. I’d love to return to this restaurant or their London venue to take a look at their seafood counter or try their 2/3 course lunch set.

A really fantastic dinner party for our company, private dining, with a mix of dishes being brought out, the starters were all fantastic, especially the scallops, bang bang cauliflower and a different take on prawn toast.

The main, the steak was a little rare for my liking, but the Seabass, chips, Mac and cheese and greens were exceptional. The dessert platter was also really nice.

Excellent service, brilliant people, nice beers and wine on offer, altogether a fantastic dining experience.
