The customer service provided by this property owner / occupier are so poor that I was forced to cancel the entire booking. Led astray by the good reviews, I booked a three night stay for my partner’s birthday. I was then offered an upgrade, which included a private hot tub, a balcony and various other facilities the original room did not have. So I paid the extra for the upgrade, bringing the total for 3 nights to almost £700. I messaged the property as it wasn’t clear exactly what was included from the photos in the upgrade and I asked for clarification. The property manager refused to confirm this, each time I asked. Instead of answering my questions, they would state things such as they didn’t get paid until about 10 days after the stay, as I booked via booking.com. I kept asking for clarification which was ignored and eventually I received a message “suggesting” that I cancel and look for other accommodation. They also finally said that they “could not confirm the facilities or amenities included”. So I cancelled the accommodation on the very last day for a full refund, I have reported and lodged an official complaint to booking.com but most importantly, I want to emphasis to other people that not only is the customer service non existent, but very reasonable and probably very common questions will be met with rudeness and distain, as if daring to ask a question is a huge inconvenience. So please be warned, I think that as they would not confirm basic details about the facilities included in the accommodation, and became rude, defensive and requested to cancel, this leads me to believe that they are advertising amenities which they do not actually have. Thankfully I have found a better alternative accommodation just a few miles away, it has all the facilities we wanted, is less expensive and unlike West Wood Yurts, it is five star. I would urge extreme caution when dealing with this property owner, especially if you are upgrading and wanting to clarify what the upgrade includes. This is the first “bad review” I’ve ever given and I do not take these things lightly, but please BE WARNED!

We stayed in the rose yurt for the night. Everything was ready and clean for us to arrive. We went in got unpacked and enjoyed a night of games etc in the cosy warm yurt. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of action but this was explained before we arrived and price was reduced to reflect so totally understand. Donna introduced herself and again apologized about the hot tub being out of action. Lovely and friendly hosts. No issues whatsoever, had a lovely stay and will 100% stay again. Thank you

The accommodation was lovely although lacking one or two things I.e. wine glasses. Unfortunately the day and night we stayed was very high winds and could not make use of the fire pit. We did try to use the Wood Fired Hot Tub but unfortunately as we did not arrive until 4pm and had to heat it ourselves it was not hot enough to go in even after 3 hrs and plus the high winds made it very cold. I think it would be nice for the Hot Tubs to be ready heated for arrival as this was one of the main reasons for our booking we love a Hot Tub. For the price we paid i don't think it was worth the money. Sorry won't be returning.

What a beautiful place! Rose lodge has everything you could need for your convenience. On arrival, we were impressed with how immaculate the lodge was and how amazing it smelled.
The mattress and pillows are of great quality and so comfortable and the shower is fantastic. The kitchen area has been expertly done; it has everything you could need.
The attention to detail shows a real labour of love, with the comfort of the inside matched by the outside. Pretty solar lights illuminated the hot tub as we watched the sun set, a fire pit provides a warm glow as the chill of the night descends, and the benefit of a covered porch with chairs offers solace from the wind while still enjoying the views covered by the cosy blanket provided.
With walking access to Gibside, it really is the perfect getaway to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside and explore the local area. We miss the sheep already!

Absolutely Incredible. Considering Newcastle City Centre is just 20 mins away it’s a beautiful hideaway that makes you feel as though you’re in the middle of nowhere which I love. The views from the Yurt were incredible and the accommodation itself was just perfect. The wood fired hot tub, with the pretty lights on the night was just perfect! We will definitely be booking again. Thank you to Donna as well for being incredibly kind and hospitable.
