The food at Mabel’s cafe, is second to none! Wonderful salads and previously, great club sandwiches. All set in a lovely landscaped garden, in a wonderful garden centre setting. Shallowmead is a great all round destination for a peaceful afternoon browse.

Lovely Nursery with a nice selection of plants at reasonable prices. Great cafe with beautiful outside seating area. Some concession shops which I didn't explore but looked nice. Would definitely go back for breakfast and plant shopping

The standard of service in the garden centre is second to none. The staff went above and beyond what anyone could expect. They took the time to provide a personalised service and I left ther a very happy chap. They've helped me turn a really dreadful plot into a lovely new flower bed.
I can't wait to see it once it's settled in. The pictures don't do it justice.

Mabels Cafe
The food & decor was superb & doggie friendly.

However on entry the guy ignored us rather than greeting us and his delivery of our breakfast was in a miserably manner.

He refused to swap baked beans for tomatoes even though the costs are the same so 2 customers left a little peeved.

I recommend Swallowfield Garden Centre excellent plants at reasonable prices. Then pop into Mabels for refreshments, friendly staff, good service & food. Seating accommodation inside & out. The in-house shops are tastefully set out & welcoming.

Called into Mabel's at #shallowmeadnursery this morning, the re-building work is nearing completion. It will be a great destination to visit when the gardens are finished, the new Spring menu will be launched soon. Well worth a visit, even if you are not passing!

We arrived Saturday 7th June. Most of the small outlets within the centre were closed, so that was very disappointing. We then visited the cafe at 3 o'clock and was told the kitchen was closed. The gentleman serving, we found quite abrupt and rude. I don't know if it was because of the weather that things were as they were, but I was very disappointed with my visit.

We went for breakfast this morning, the food was delicious and so was the coffee, we will definitely be returning, lovely plants and lots of other bits too.
