As a member of the fall 2024 Nature Recovery Training cohort I had an opportunity to learn from the River Dart, the land and wildlife, the extraordinarily knowledgeable and devoted instructors, alongside a cohort of heart-centered and curious trainees and student residents. The sense of community care we experience learning together, preparing food, and taking care of our space as a cohort group was nourishing and heartening. The programs curriculum is well balanced with respect to the perspectives on past/current conservation efforts in the UK along with long term possibilities for ecosystem recovery. The curriculum balances essential theoretical framing with practical application and hands on learning. The day to day course work zooms out to offer an view of how nature recovery is situated within governmental policies and programs nationally and locally, as well as zooming in to understand get a broad understanding of the ecological processes and practices essential to nature recovery strategies that centers the principles and values rewilding.

I really enjoyed my time on the 3-month traineeship and living on the farm. I had no educational background in ecology and nature recovery so really learned a lot, the most I’ve learned in a long time!
I would recommend the traineeship to anyone interested in learning more about nature recovery, connection and rewilding in both a classroom and practical setting- we learned concepts inside and then went outside to see them in practise (thanks Mike!). The teaching allows lots of space for discussion and is held in a beautiful place - I miss the farm (and the people) already!

I had the most amazing time during the 16 week nature recovery traineeship.
There was a huge variety of subjects and practical learning and I feel much better equipped to approach a career in nature.

I was at Ambios for the 8 week traineeship in Nature Recovery and had the most amazing time. With an exciting jam packed schedule, we learnt so much from a variety of different people. We had many opportunities to explore the surrounding area and local projects on field trips around Dartmoor, plus classroom time and on the farm in the garden and with the animals. It has been a very nourishing experience around a beautiful, kind and encouraging community at Lower Sharpham Farm and I feel much more confident in myself to progress further in a career in Nature Recovery.
