Cornwall Gold and Tolgus Mill is a fantastic family-friendly destination! Entry, parking, and the museum are all free, with donations welcomed to support the site. The history display above the entrance walk is engaging and well-explained, offering a great introduction to Cornwall’s tin mining heritage. There’s plenty of outdoor space to roam, and it’s dog-friendly—though we brought our cat, who loved exploring too! The gold panning pit with sand sieves is a fun, free activity for all ages, and the pottery painting station is a creative hit. The Cornish Pantry restaurant serves tasty food, but it feels a bit small for the venue’s size, so expect longer waits during peak times. Overall, a brilliant spot for a family day out—we’ll be back!

Lovely place to visit where children can try to find a diamond 💎 for a small charge. Go gold panning for free. We also did the guided tour with Steve, our tour guide. Steve was very knowledgeable about the milling of tin.
There is an onsite café which all looked good and was busy during or trip here.
If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend a stoo here.

We poked our noses in out of curiosity and ended up staying all afternoon. We rummaged for diamonds, learned loads about the fascinating history of Cornish mining, painted our own ornament which was a right laugh and my wife selected an oyster which then produced a pearl that was mounted onto a chain of her choice to create a beautiful piece of jewellery while we watched. She is over the moon! The staff were great especially Donna who helped us with the pearl. Cafe was good too - a great day out. Thankyou thankyou

We came for the historical information and mill, and enjoyed spending 45-60 minutes perusing it. We also took a quick look at the jewelry store, cafe, bear works, and panning for gold - a nice mix of adult and kid activities.

The historical information is really well done within the main centre and separate mill. It covers why the mill was here, showed machinery for how it operated, and told of how people lived whilst working there. Occasionally the sign lettering is a little small but the information included is really well done. The mill is also quite interesting to meander through as able to see the machines, as well as details about the 1919 Levant Mine disaster, like what happened and why it occurred. It takes around 15-30 minutes in both the interior and in the mill, depending on how quickly read.

Pantry cafe had a significant amount of seating and decent looking drink and food options.

Car park is huge - I assume it cost get quite full during busy periods.

Toilets were quite nice and clean.

I have been going to Cornwall Gold Centre for years and have bought some lovely pieces of jewellery from there in that time. Looks wise it has changed a lot over them years but the one thing that has stayed the same is the customer service, the staff are always lovely, friendly and willing to help. When I’m there I always ask for my rings to be cleaned and I am never disappointed with the service, it is always great and my rings sparkle so thank you very much 🙏💍 ☺️

We went to this venue mid week in May. A few other visitors at the venue but it wasnt too busy which was nice. Had a good time reading about the old mining process and chatting to one of the staff members. Really enjoyed hunting for a diamond from cubic zirconia duplicates. It would have been nice to see someone in the old mill to talk through all the equipment but i guess midweek the staff were spread a bit thin.

We came here with 3 kids and a granny 🙂 and had a wonderful afternoon, the staff were so friendly. The food in the cafe was wonderful 😊 we panned for gold, which was great in exchange for a voluntary donation. Great knowledgeable staff at the jewellery counter. We will definitely return for pottery painting and teddy bear making! We ran out of time today. Free entry 🙂

Whilst staying in Portreath we visited Cornish Gold. We had no idea how much there was to see and do in the complex.

I cannot praise the girls (2 stars for them) enough who stood behind the jewellery counters. They were very knowledgeable, friendly and went above and beyond to show the men's wedding rings. I wanted my husband's ring size accurately measured so the lady said we could go to the resident Goldsmith to find his size.

Big mistake, I have never met such a dour, miserable and rude man especially as he was in a customer facing role. He didn't talk, just grunted. Surely you could find a better Goldsmith, or is it that he is so amazing you are prepared to sacrifice customers.

Needless to say, we did not purchase a wedding ring. I decided to take my business elsewhere

Edited: - I notice that you only get responses from Cornwall Gold if you leave a positive review.....I did buy a wedding ring when we returned home from an independent jewellery.
