I like this idea. You pick a growing tree so you not only get to see it without the netting (sometimes hiding misshaped or bold trees) but you also get your tree as fresh as possible. Card and cash accepted.

Don't forget it's best to keep a freshly cut tree in a stand with water. You can buy them on popular sites for about £25. You may even be able to use a simple bucket, as per my photos.

An update: I was curious how long this tree would look good for after cutting. It's now end of February and it's still looks reasonable. It dropped very few needles and there's only very marginal browning that started occurring in the last two weeks. For most of the time the tree stomp was immersed in a bucket of water though.
