🤣🫶 Hello greetings from Canada, I ordered from Bread and Macaroon online to surprise my friends, and According to my friends; they practically finished the whole order in less than two days. The pastries looked beautiful, I wished I was there to share with them. Looking forward to ordering again!

I recently had the unfortunate experience of both trying the products from Bread and Macaroon (registered as Manger Moi Ltd) and working with the owner, Foued Saber, for a few days. I was hoping to support a local business, but what I encountered was both disappointing and unethical.

I worked for Fouad for four days, during which time I saw firsthand how poorly he treats his staff, most of whom are young students (16-20 years old) looking for work experience. Despite completing five shifts, I was only paid for four, leaving me £60 out of pocket. When I raised the issue, Foued blocked me and refused to engage further, which is completely unprofessional.

The pay was shockingly low—£6.50 per hour, which is below minimum wage. When I questioned this, I was dismissed without any proper explanation. It's clear that the business is exploiting vulnerable workers, especially students who don't yet know their rights.

As a business owner, Foued also tries to avoid giving basic employment rights by offering an "Independent Contractor Agreement" instead of treating workers as employees. On top of that, the quality of the products is questionable. Despite claiming to offer authentic French pastries, the offerings are far from it. The "focaccia" tastes more like Moroccan bread, and the "Millefeuille" lacks the delicate pastry layers you would expect. Prices are also unreasonably high, ranging from £5.99 to £7.99 for items that don't meet expectations.

From a hygiene standpoint, I was shocked. Cakes were transported in a dusty Citroën Berlingo with no concern for food safety. I raised concerns about the unsanitary conditions, but Foued was dismissive, saying adding paper mats to protect the cakes would be "too costly." Additionally, the staff was frequently seen smoking near the kitchen, which is a serious health hazard, especially when handling food.

It’s clear that this business is not built on integrity, quality, or fairness. While the stalls can bring in £6,500 to £10,000 per month, it’s the workers who are paying the price—exploited with long hours, low pay, and poor working conditions.

I would not recommend working with or buying from Bread and Macaroon if you value fair treatment, quality food, or hygiene standards. My experience was both disappointing and upsetting, and I strongly urge others to avoid supporting a business with such unethical practices.

Absolutely disgraceful bakers they sell you incorrect items and is nothing according to what is shown on the pictures. I tried calling the owner several times to try and confirm if he will replace the birthday cake but he just completely ignored my messages and pretended to be on a meeting for hours. Avoid at all costs. Do not let the previous positive reviews fool you.
I have attached the pictures of what was received along with the cake that was actually advertised on the website.

Purchased a pistachio tart from the farmers market today and it was highly disappointing. I paid £5.99 for what was effectively a dry tart case with some whipped cream on top, I am not sure how they can justify selling such a substandard product for a premium price. Do not recommend.

I am usually very happy with bread and macaron cakes and have ordered three from them before. However, I was very disappointed with what I received last week from B and M. I ordered a chocolate Charlotte cake from the website. I asked for a toothpick little flag with 29 on the cake. I got a cake with not a lot of fruit. Where is all the fruit gone? I would have been fine with less fruit, but the strawberries were very dry and quite soft on the cake, like they had been out for a while. So overall, the cake tasted fine, but I was very dissapointed and would have liked fresh fruit as advertised especially if I am going to pay £45 for a cake.

Gave this place a try today and I was NOT disappointed!
Walked in, got greeted by a very friendly french patisserie chef (1st hint that I was in for a treat!)
Bought some apple tarts which were absolutely amazing and whilst casually doing chitchat with the chef he let me try a small piece of 3-layered french chocolate tart - I consider myself a regular customer now!
Prices are also very good.

I went this morning to buy a baguette (£2.95) and as it is a bakery with an internal laboratory, I asked to confirm if the bread was made by them.

The saleswoman assured me yes.

Once I paid and got the bread, I realized that the shape, consistency and flavor were the same as those found in the supermarket, industrial and cooked in the shop from frozen products.

The bread in particular was awful, it tasted like cardboard or sawdust.
Absolutely disgusting.

I went back to the shop, and once again the sales assistants confirmed to me that it is a handmade product.

However, they admitted that they had not tasted it, and refused to do so.

I attach photos.
Nothing else to add, except that I will never buy in this shop again, even if it is practically next door.

We had a red velvet cake delivered for my daughter’s 10th birthday . They were late , the cake had written on top HB 10 it looked nothing like the photos on their website . Also it lacked flavour they looked as though they had run out of sponge because there was so much cream filling and hardly any cake that it was not edible . Even the kids didn’t eat this cake . I paid £60 and after complaining I have been ignored and now they won’t pick up the phone no or answer any emails . I am shocked at their service .
