Visited The Wireworks today for a whisky tour, wow. I cannot recommend enough the tour guide/distiller Sarah was brilliant, very knowledgeable, approachable and told the story of the wire works and the process of whisky, gin & rum distillation in a very engaging manor. They have gained a very loyal follower!

The tour is given by one of the distillers which means you get a really good insight into the process, better than if they employed a tour guide.
The distillery is in a really interesting building and in a beautiful location.

Although Ive visited rum distilleries in Barbados, this is my first distillery tour in the UK. I can’t believe this is literally on my door step, which definitely influenced in my decision in visiting with my wife & friends.

We decided to go for the distillery tour, booking in advance which is recommended. On the day of the tour, we arrived in the car park & walked into the shop. We were greeted by staff members who confirmed our booking & asked us to hang about in the shop & tasting room. I took the opportunity to take a toilet break, before the tour kicked off.

We were greeted by our tour guide who gave us the welcome & safety briefing, before taking us to where the copper stills stood in all their glory, we went up the stairs to see some whisky in the making at various stages. From this view point we were able to see just how big the whole operation is! After this we then went past the label making room, & into the cask stores. We then went back & finished our tour in the tasting room, followed by sampling gin, rum & whisky, my favourites being the whisky & rum.

Before leaving we then had a good look in the shop, however decided not to purchase anything as i’ll be purchasing a bottle from March 2022 on the internet. I have however signed up to the emailing service to keep an eye on the releases.

Everything is pretty accessible ♿️ for wheelchair users, other than going up to the stills.

Maybe in the future, I’ll decide to come back for the Whisky tour or Warehouse tour?

Brilliant Distillery Tour by our excellent guide, Dave. Both him and the rest of the staff were really friendly, always smiling when they walked past which is always pleasant to see. The girl in the distillery shop (so sorry I didn't get your name!) was also pleasant and welcoming, and served up some brilliant coffee, which was much needed as I drove from Manchester to attend the 11:00am tour.

Dave went into great detail during the tour, and this being my 9th tour of a whisky distillery, I have to say I still learnt a few things that weren't covered by other distilleries on their tours, which was quite fascinating. Dave spoke about the different enzymes used during the whisky making process, and even gave us the names of them, as well as the different yeast strains, and explained their function as part of the process. I really enjoyed how thorough the tour was, and how Dave seemed genuinely passionate about the process of crafting each of their spirits. He was also very patient, and always happy to answer the many questions we had as a group throughout.

The tasting at the end was very fun too, with Dave talking through each of the spirits in more detail, and recommended mixers which go well with their Gin and Rum.

The distillery itself is also a very interesting place, with plenty of history which was briefly touched upon by Dave at the beginning of the tour also.

After the tour, I had a good walk around the surrounding area and woodlands, which were stunning at this time of the year, and I'd highly recommend it just to get a feel for the area, as the distillery itself only occupies around 10% of the entire Wire Works site, as explained by Dave. Do bear in mind there are also other businesses on the site too, occupying other buildings, so there are certain areas which are off limits.

Dave explained they'll likely introduce a hand filled bottling that you fill yourself, along with a possible Distillery Exclusive bottling in the near future.

Overall I was very impressed with the experience, and will definitely be back to see what direction this new distillery is headed. Thanks again to all those at White Peak Distillery for making my trip to the distillery a worthwhile experience.

The distillery tour is fantastic as you get to see the whole whisky making process and our guide was really interesting as he clearly has a passion for making whisky (and gin and rum!) which made the tour great fun. Everyone from complete beginners to experts will enjoy the tour as the description of all the different stages and history of the site is done really well and you get to see everything up close and personal with plenty of time to ask questions. The tasting room has a cozy log burner and even though they have only been up and running for about 5 years the whisky is already tasting fantastic so I'm looking forward to their future bottlings as they continue to grow and begin to release age statement whiskys.

Had a great day visiting the distillery today. Really friendly staff and a knowledgeable and engaging guide. The tasting was lovely too and we loved the free whiskey glasses to take home! This is a cracking young distillery and you can feel the love they put into their products and the passion they have for their craft. They also have a fantastic green ethic. Loved every minute.
