I had an outstanding day at Basing house, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, especially our tour guide the price of entry is very cheap with free parking, there was also the Sealed Knot reenactment of the seige which was absolutely brilliant, the best day out I have had in a long time , highly recommended.

Had our wedding here start of Sept and it was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a rustic barn for their wedding venue! The barn and area are so rich in history, not to mention self catering so you have the freedom to arrange your own food etc and also being dog friendly - which ticked all our boxes when planning our wedding and choosing the venue. Kirstie and the team were also absolutely brilliant and so helpful with helping organise the day and ensuring everything went smoothly, communication leading up to the day was also great. Thank you Kirstie and the Basing House team!

We had our wedding here on 27th April and could not recommend Basing House enough! The venue itself is so rich in history with a beautiful great barn and surrounding gardens which make the day so unique. The whole viewing/planning process was fantastic from start to end and Kirstie made the whole process so enjoyable. We completely trusted her and the BH team in every step of the way and it was a breath of fresh air compared to many other corporate wedding suppliers. If you want something a bit different, affordable and that will be truly unique then I would 100% recommend Basing House as a wedding venue!! Thank you to Kirstie and the team for making our day so memorable!

Although this place is called Basing House, it is mostly only ruins to be seen. The reception is some distance from the car park, with a walk along the river Loddon. YOu get the tickets by the only standing building, a 16th century barn, and then have another walk along and across a road to get to the ruins. One needs a lot of imagination to figure our what the place might have looked like several centuries ago, but there is a short video in a room with a museum which helps explain the role of this house during the Civil War, when the fortified house was captures by Cromwell's forces. And aerial photograph there also helps.

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Had a little trouble getting to the exact location from the M3 northbound. Site is a great size full of history and a lovely gift shop.

I've been wanting to revisit Basingstoke house for sometime. It has such a history going back to Norman times,but Henry 8 th visited in 1536 his daughter Elizabeth many times and of course Oliver Cromwell and his Roundhead. A really lovely visit was had . Really great and interesting place run by Hampshire a cultural trust. Great for school groups as well. Including many wild flowers. Be careful of the Rageert though.

It’s a very large area but lacks context. No guide was available on the day, the audio guides weren’t working, and the lady at the visitor center were unwelcoming and pressured us to buy tickets simply for accessing the garden that leads to the center via a public path, even while we were still deciding. Overall, a disappointing experience. The ruins offer little engaging interpretation, and the few information boards are worn and unhelpful. Interestingly, the surrounding area of Old Basing provides far more historical insight than the site itself. Additionally, the site is not accessible for those who need assistance or have mobility issues, with many uneven surfaces and steep, hilly paths.

Really quiet for a BH Saturday, amazing helpful and knowledgeable staff. The grounds were stunning. It's a great place to take your time and learn whilst enjoying the grounds.
