Shocking cake ! Don’t buy from here !! Cut the cake gave it out to friends and family it didn’t taste right, foul cream on the outside and sprinkles !! I took it back they tried to say it tasted good! I have tasted lots of cake over the years !! The street bakery beautiful vegan cakes !! Keep away, they offered a slice of cake compensation for the embarrassment of handing out this cake to my friends and family!! What was meant to be a memorable cake will be remembered for all the wrong reasons !! Save your money and keep away!!

We had a very disappointing experience at the Basingstoke Cake Box branch, which was a huge letdown since we’ve always trusted Cake Box for any special occasion. This was our first visit to the Basingstoke location, and unfortunately, the staff made it an unpleasant one. The staff member was rude and kept pushing us to order online instead of helping us in-store. Initially, she said they could customize our cake, but once it came time to discuss the details, her attitude turned hostile. We had requested a car-themed cake, but she kept making excuses, including saying the car design we wanted wasn’t available and the one they had in the store was just a display model. She suggested a printout, but then claimed the printer might not work in time for our event.

After a lot of back-and-forth, we decided to go for a simple cake. When we asked for a taste test, we were told they had no spoons available—at a cake shop, of all places! Fortunately, we had our own. Once we were finally ready to place an order, the staff told us we had to leave or come back later since we only had 8 minutes left to place the order. It’s frustrating that something as simple as placing an order turned into such a hassle.

It's a shame that this experience has left such a bad impression, especially considering Cake Box’s reputation.

I purchased a football themed Cake on the occasion of my son birthday. The cake was delivered on time as specified but unfortunately the cake didn’t meet the expectations as shown. The icing sheet used was not cut to perfection and the colors used over the cake where are not good. I went back to the store next day to give the feedback ,with the cake photos and I was glad by the customer service by Suhasini as she completed understood my concern and she handled the situation with all the empathy.

I just want to give a feedback that would help improve the quality of the cakes as we completely believe in cake box.

I’ve bought a red velvet cake from here and it had no cheese crem in it at all , just fresh cream . Because of that it was very bland and tasteless. When I complained I’ve been told there was a thin layer of cheese cream in there . Absolute joke I’ve had red velvet before i know what should taste like. I will never use it again .

Bought a few cakes ie dark forest, pistachio and 2 cupcakes especially for my two children. The first two were fine, however the cupcakes were bad and it did smell funny when we took it out its plastic container. Despite being the children’s favourite, they couldnt eat it - i did give it a try and it tasted awful. Had to chuck them in the bin and it was definitely not fresh or made on the day.

I recently ordered a cake from Cake Box for my nephew’s party, requesting a plain black cake. Unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing.

Firstly, I was charged an extra £4 for the black color. When I received the cake, the finishing was poor—the black color was inconsistent and faded in some areas.

The real issue arose when the guests started eating the cake. Everyone ended up with black stains on their mouths and teeth, which was extremely embarrassing. Some also had their hands stained and their clothes as well. With about 50 guests present, it was a major issue and made it difficult for anyone to enjoy the cake.

When I visited Cake Box after the event to provide feedback, they simply stated that this is common with dark colors. However, this was never communicated to me beforehand. I believe that if they had used higher quality food coloring, this problem might have been minimized. Despite my embarrassment and inconvenience, they offered no compensation and repeatedly insisted that such issues are normal with dark colors.

Given this experience, I can’t recommend Cake Box and believe they may have lost many potential customers from my event alone.

Had the most terrible experience from Cake box Basingstoke today. We are first time customers and ordered a cake for our child's 5th birthday. A chocolate cake! We showed the lady a picture of the cake we liked on your website and she put in an order for us. Collection agreed. On collection today the cake was not as advertised. We questioned this and the lady got rude saying this is the colour. We explained our point of view that our child wants a chocolate cake and we showed a picture, this is not what we ordered. She got rude with us and got defensive. In the end we just walked out with the cake as she clearly didn't understand our point and refused to even help us. She refused to give us her name hence the picture. The cake also does not taste right either! Not chocolate at all! I would not purchase again and will be informing my family and friends too. I would not use cake box again. A customer even left the store once he saw this lady behaving how she did. I attach a picture of the lady as she refused to give me her name. If I am spending £36 on a cake I would expect it to taste good and look as I wanted. Got neither. How can you get it so wrong is beyond me let alone the lack of Customer experience. I asked for the complaints procedure only to be refused.
