Firstly I want to say how nice the food tastes and how great the selection of cakes etc look when I come into my local shop in West Kilbride but if it wasn't for the staff I would have given the Kandy Bar 5 stars.
I've been using this shop since I moved to the village nearly 8 years ago but only recently I've noticed that the staff have been quite rude and dour faced, towards me anyway, they seem to laugh and joke with other people in the shop and then I get service without a smile but this is only in the last few months and I don't know why as I've always been polite and friendly when I come into the shop but today I've had enough when I came in to buy my favourite for my lunch and paid by bank card and the female assistant just stood there staring at me and I had to ask her if my payment went through successfully and she drew her eyes off me and says aye and walked away and served another customer, no thank you or bye and I did walk out the shop angry and did mumble loudly service with a bloody smile would be nice.
As I says ,no complaints on the food, it's always been 5 out 5 from me.

Service, walking into a shop and having 2 out the 3 members of staff talk openly a customer who'd just left , ironically they reckoned the customer caught them talking about her!

They have never been service with a smile, scowl yes, and always feel like inconvenience to them, shame really but won't be using them again.

Tbh Their shop could do with a deep clean as well, nothing specific just a good clean

Traditional bakery also serves breakfast rolls and the items to take home to make your own if you want. Can be very busy at times, queue is out the door.
There is a small car park directly across the road.

Bought some of your Scotch Pies last month and put them in the freezer at our home in Derbyshire. We had them today. Very nice and tasty. Look forward to getting some more when we are back in West Kilbride in July. Lovely shop with great food!

An outstanding wee bakery, award winning and deservedly so as can be seen behind the counter. Their morning rolls are so good that next time I am there I will just eat a couple with no filling. Normally bacon is the highlight of a bacon roll but I cant imagine bacon good enough to outshine these rolls. Do yourself a favour and visit West Kilbride a lovely wee town, especially if you are looking for unique gifts.

Been to this kandy bar 3-4 times now and to be fair the first 2 or 3 times were good. Enjoyed the food and friendly staff. Sadly todays wasn’t like that. The young girl that served us has the personality of a goldfish. To add to that I paid 60p to add salad to my roll. Which if I’m honest is too much but when I opened it to find shredded iceberg lettuce and one slice of cucumber I think is shocking. The worst part was the tiny amount of tuna spread very thinly across the rolls. If this is the new standard we sadly won’t be back. £10 for 4 sparse tuna rolls and iceberg lettuce is shocking.

The best Paris buns ever!!!! Scones are amazing too. I ordered some scones for the tea we had when my Mum passed away last year. I used to always take Mum to your cafe in Hamilton Street for a weekly treat. Mum would have a creamy jam finger donut and I couldn't have anything else but Paris Bun!
I was thinking of placing a wee order for the staff at Abbotsford Nursing home where my Dad is a resident. The lassies there are doing such an amazing job! Do you do delivery? XX
