Great little find. Traveling along A7 in foul weather. Followed signs to Visitors Centre. Limited parking but delightful small cafe. Knitwear and tweed section smallish but impressive. Tempted into buying some knitwear. Will definitely stop off again next time we're passing. If you're ever in need of a kilt this must be the place to visit.

For those who enjoy learning how things are made, you must stop by and learn how tartans are dyed and weaved.

I appreciate fine textiles so much more from this tour.

Thanks to my guide, Jimmy, for his careful explanation of the weaving process from start to finish.

The cafe is also a yummy place to stop for breakfast or lunch!

We had a super tour and bought yards of amazing fabric, cones of soft yarn for weaving/machine knitting and ribbon for binding cardigan edges.

Really enjoyed my visit❣️

Had initially planned to just order and pick up some tartan yardage. But the staff were so cordial, helpful and service minded, I ended up spending sevral hours at there, and got a factory tour!

Turns out Lochcarron is not only the worlds preeminent tartan purveyor, they have lots of other products (blankets, scarfs, tams, you name it). They can also make you a kilt from any tartan wish (or you can design your own). Amazing stuff - it shines through that they pride themselves one top-notch workmanship.

So glad I made the trip!

Went with my Innovation and Technology class from Strathclyde Business School and though the trip was long(long enough for you to doze off) with lots of bends the journey was worth it. Once there everything about the experience was world class. From the reception with it's Cafe and shop to the tour itself with experienced tour guides worth going back with someone who has not been. Remember to shop to make your visit worth the effort.

Having done a little bit of research regarding an appropriate tartan for a tie I discovered MacMillan Hunting Modern. Having placed an order on Monday evening I received a beautifully packaged, high quality tie on Friday morning.

Braw place for buying woolies and winter scarfs. Also has a very pleasing little cafe in the back of the store with seating. Great soup and warm toasties, so if you have not long crossed the border and feeling the chill, this place is well worth the mini-detour. A very welcoming and homely place thanks to lovely staff.

Today my America friend and myself had a fantastic mill tour. Our guide was Jimmy who was very informative about the process. He was also witty and courteous. Andrea was very helpful helping my friend accessories her purchases and providing information on how to claim back the vat when she leaves the country (a little gem).
