This is the most lovely independent shop of brilliant local crafts and curios.
The owner is a font of knowledge, very friendly and helpful (she explained all about the different types of tartan in a bag of off cuts I was buying and in another trip, she told me all about maker behind a crochet stuffed animal).
Number one stop any time I’m looking for something unique and well made for gifts.

I have seen this shop grow from a small selection of art and a handful of artists, to a great selection of works from over 70 artisans! There is so much talent and so much variety in the shop. Jan Bannister, the owner, is very passionate about her business and what she sells. She is very friendly and helpful should anyone need assistance in finding a gift for someone. The prices in Barn Owl Bothy are excellent too, providing great value and affordability for everyone. I also like the fact that there are no mass produced items on sale and that the shop supports many artisans to continue their work. If you want to treat yourself to something, or buy someone a gift or mark a special occasion, then I would recommend Barn Owl Bothy as the best place to go.

While on a golf trip in Dornoch I happened upon this enchanting little shop filled with beautiful handmade items. As a knitter myself I was entranced by the many hand knit socks, mittens, gloves, adorable baby items etc., at surprisingly reasonable prices for such unique quality handwork done by local knitters. I left with two of the most beautiful baby girl sweaters for my grand-niece-to-be, and 2 pairs of socks made of the softest yarn. Jan, the shop owner, was so friendly and went out of her way to accommodate all my questions including contacting her knitters for info on where I can buy all the lovely yarn that went into my purchases. Thank you Jan for this highlight of my trip to such a wonderfully welcoming little corner of the world!

Barn Owl Bothy is a super little shop which is filled with very unusual gifts to buy for friends and family. Every time I visit, I find new items made by very talented craft folks who make the most wonderful items.

Jan, the proprietor is a lovely lady who has a very welcoming manner and will always point out new items in the shop and tell you something about the person who made them.

I would recommend anyone visiting Dornoch to make time to visit this lovely, interesting shop.

I have bought several items from Barn Owl Bothy and have been thrilled and delighted with my purchases. The Bothy sells items produced by local crafts people and are therefore quite limited in number. For that special gift which has not been mass produced please visit the Bothy or shop online which is what I have done. I promise you will not be disappointed. Really beautifully made items at very reasonable prices which you will not find elsewhere. I love it.

Love this little gem of a shop in the heart of Dornoch. A great place for some beautiful one of a kind designer pieces for yourself , your home or as special gifts at a fraction of the price you would expect to pay in the high end stores. I visit whenever I can . The shop has a really easy to use website too ! Always a friendly welcome and a good chat with Janice .
