We had a wonderful stay at Pond Cottage, it was warm, cosy & comfortable. There are deer in the woods, we could hear them calling at night and on occasion they passed by the cottage. Our dog loved it, we all wished we'd booked for longer. Plenty of walks around, a nice cafe just down the road and the estate visitors centre sells their own quality produce. Everyone we met was lovely. We will definitely be looking forward to a return visit.

Popped into the Shop and Visitor Centre whilst passing today. Bought a couple of packs of the venison sausages with black pepper. Reasonable price for a quality product. Got them in the pan as soon as we got home ( with a little truffle mash and a cranberry/port reduction ) beautiful. Wish we had bought more than the two packs we had purchased.... however that only means we will have to return in the future.

All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed as a family in August, in one of the cottages, this is our 3rd visit. We had a great time, with daily walks and sightseeing. Dog friendly too. Everyone was so obliging and the meats were tasty. Very good value for money.

Myself and the family had a lovely few days staying in one of the cottages which was comfortable, clean and relaxing. We were made welcome, given a very interesting farm tour, had fun looking around the waxworks and had some tasty snacks in the tearoom. Suitable for children of all ages even my teenagers enjoyed it. Would recommend this for a nice few days away stay.

We stayed in the Pond Cottage which is a lovely small cottage where you get to be in your own peace. You can't even see any neighbours and it's by a lovely small dog friendly pond. There is an excellent hike to the top of Tinto Hill you can do starting from the cottage. Carmichael tea room and shop are really good with very friendly service. We booked some food from the farm shop beforehand and it was all set up ready for our arrival.

This was our second visit, and we stayed in a different cottage this time.
We had the Coachmans cottage, and wow, what a lovely cottage it is.
Plenty of room for the kids to run and play, with interesting walks on both sides of the estate.

I would recommend if your planning a trip to Scotland to call in at the visitors centre for more information. And a return trip to stay here.

Thanks have to be given to the staff who were very welcoming.

And yes, we did get to see some very elusive deer!

Since buying venison from Carmichaels at Glasgow Farmers market for the last few years and as a family who have enjoyed venison long before it came in vogue.
I have to say the quality of the most recent purchase bordered on the inedible.
It is not the way the meat was cooked as it has tasted beautifully in the past

We are about to have a venison pie and hope that unlike the roe deer haunches and square sausage purchased at the same time the pie will be edible.
Having read the response from Carmichael Meats I note it is a standard response in the hope that we do not know about different types of venison.
For a cost of over £19 for 600 grams we expected far better quality.
We were disappointed to say the least.
The venison pie was dry and tasteless not equal to previous pies bought.
I would suggest an improvement in quality control would be a good idea.
