I recently attended the gemmology workshop in London with Stuart from Nineteen 48. Stuart has a real passion for gemmology and is very knowledgeable about the subject, he is also super friendly and will answer all your questions. I highly recommend this workshop to anyone keen to learn more about coloured gemstones.

I have bought gemstones from them on several occasion and I always been extremely happy with the service and the quality of the gems. Right from the initial contact with Stuart, I had a positive feeling about this company. I had made a flying visit to the UK from Peru for Xmas, and had been frantically searching for an online company for a blue sapphire for my girlfriend's engagement ring, but just wasn't that convinced by a lot of companies out there. Their level of customer service was not great to say the least. Stuart on the other hand was incredibly helpful. Even when he was away on business, he left me in the more than capable hands of Gary, who was also extremely helpful. Gary even went out of his way to go and meet up with my close friend of mine who agreed to view some sapphires on my behalf. My friend vouched for the quality of the sapphires, and I was sold at this point, but even more so when I had also been in contact with a reputable bespoke jeweller who mentioned that she used Nineteen 48 to source her sapphires. At this point, I was definitely sold. The transaction itself was effortless, and I received the stone from Gary in good time ready for my trip back to Peru. I have to say, the photos do not do the stones justice. The sapphire looked absolutely amazing in the flesh, and at such a reasonable price. My girlfriend was absolutely thrilled and emotional when I surprised her with the sapphire, and we cannot wait to have it set in a ring here. I highly recommend Nineteen48, not just for the quality stones that they have, but for the outstanding customer service which you never seem to get these days. Thank you so much Gary and Stuart! I'll be sure to let you have a photo of the sapphire in the finished ring as soon as we have it. As a relatively longstanding customer, I have a high regard for the team of Nineteen48. They work closely with the miners and cutters to ensure traceable mine to market gemstones. As well as on the African continent as Sri Lanka. They have an array of gemstone qualities to suit every budget. I have been very happy with my sapphire purchases so far and the garnets I have bought through Nineteen48 from their Moyo gems project in supporting women miners in Tanzania.

I also joined the one day introductory course to gemstones given by Stuart, founder of Nineteen48. It was informative and also catered to everyone's need, depending on the level of knowledge is students have. Discussions arose and interesting topics sidelined from these discussions. It was an insightful and informative day.

Exceptional! Most of us are aware of the difficulty of finding ethically mined gemstones.... even more of us are painfully aware of the difficulty in finding exceptional customer service.... put the two together and you might as well be looking for the holy grail..... Well its been found! Gary and Stuart are knowledgable, helpful and above all else fair, to both the sources of their gemstones and the customers they serve. I have had two stones from them (so far) and would not hesitate to recommend their service. I actually initially asked them for a couple of stones that didn't suit my requirements and it was a simple and easy procedure to change them..... How often does that happen? Quite brilliant and highly recommended!

Stuart and Gary came to run a 1 day course at Touchmark Studios and what a brilliant day it was too! They are very knowledgeable and it was a great introduction to the fascinating world of gemstones. We had hands on time using some of the equipment for identification and it was also interesting to hear about ethical sourcing and mining techniques.
