Stayed in Shepherd Shack for the weekend and had an absolute blast. Enjoying a glass of wine in front of the log burner after the day in Hay on way bookstore galore. Most comfy bed I have slept in and just loved it all. From hearing the Owls at night and pony’s and ducks in the morning, an absolute gem to experience.|Marta took care of us so well, even when they were hosting an event on site. |Would love to come again soon and spent more time on the farm. |10/10 all round

Visited this gorgeous venue for the first time last night - it has a very funky 'rustic cool' vibe. Beautiful drive to get there and a stunning sprawling location with cool glamping, tastefully maintained stone buildings, great ambience and animals too. This looks like the perfect venue for a family/friendship glamp or a chilled individual wedding. It is very dog friendly and has a laid back and welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed burgers with dirty fries which were yummy! Thank you to the crew!

This will be my third visit to Drovers Rest, previously staying in the awesome Safari Tents we opted on this occasion for the Cart House. The Cart House comprises of a large open plan eating and socialising area with doors that open directly onto the large meadow great for playing outside. ||The staff at Drovers Rest were as always incredibly friendly. We opted to experience their food on both the first and last night. The food was superb, excellent value for money. The bar was well stocked with a good selection of beer and wine. ||We were able to experience the farm walk, a must if you are staying on site. ||Drovers Rest is a gem.

The hosts are lovely and very solicitous, they attended all of our concerns, including helping us out in a medical emergency. It's a very well-run family business, our tent was cosy and comfortable at night, the bathrooms and showers were clean and easily-accessible, and the kitchen was well-supplied for us to make breakfast. The home-made burger and burrito nights were delicious. We had an amazing time. Drovers is just a 10 minute ride away from Hay, and we got by just fine by taxi as we don't own a car, though we recommend booking the cab during working hours if you plan on coming back late. The road to Drovers is also very safe and great for morning walks. The farm tour is lovely, all the animals are super friendly, especially Stewart the cat, who came to see us every night outside our tent.

Stayed at Drovers Rest with a group of 28 ladies. The facilities are very good but the costumer service was not as I would have expected. ||The management were asked if they could provide us with an additional single duvet so that one of the ladies could sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. I felt that this was a perfectly reasonable request. The charge for this was going to be £50. Whilst I understand there are laundering costs involved, this was completely ridiculous and their offer was therefore declined and blankets from the beds were used instead. ||We had booked a barbecue meal on the Saturday night at a pre agreed price of £20pp for one piece of meat, salad and dessert. When the meal arrived it was one chicken thigh per person and a very small salad. Even allowing for overheads, this was an incredibly meagre meal for that price and we were left feeling hungry. When challenged about one lady who did not receive any chicken, the owner was abrupt and unfriendly, eventually bringing her chicken. The group complained and the situation could have been easily rectified with adequate salad been served, the portion served which had to be shared between 3 should have been per person. If this was the case or the owner rectified the complaints, our experience would have been very different. ||My impression was that the customer service was distinctly lacking and would not choose to stay there again.

A group of us visited Drovers Rest last Saturday during the bank holiday weekend. We were all completely floored and impressed with the setting, the incredible food, and the welcome we received.

This is on top of the wonderful service we received throughout the booking process.

Although there was some changes with regards to dietary requirements, the staff and chefs on Saturday adapted to this without question and reassuringly which I really appreciated.

Thank you so much for a seamless and magical experience.

We had a fantastic weekend at Drovers Rest. The safari tents are so comfortable and well appointed and the dedicated bathroom is very modern and clean with a great shower! There’s two parks for the kids to play and a lot of fields to run around in. The farm tour in the morning to feed the animals was great for kids and adults! The owner is really knowledgeable on the animals and it was great to get up and close to so many. Would highly recommend a weekend away here, great value and really fun. We’ll definitely be back.

We had a lovely couple of days at Drover’s Rest. The farm stay is extremely well organised and all family run. The hosts were very friendly, supportive, and understanding (even when we requested a change super on top of time - special thanks to Patrick and Kesri for understanding, and thank you Martha for heroically agreeing to an additional changeover!). The farm is lovely, I really enjoyed going for walks in the mornings to see the animals (pygmy goats, sheep, horses, ducks, alpacas…) whom we had a chance to feed and interact with. The tents were well maintained, close to the farm house, and with nearby bathroom and kitchen access (as well as a gorgeous view of the sunrise and sunset). The accommodation is mostly self-catering, but we went to two of the summer dinners and both were delicious and worth every penny. It is a bit of a walk to Hay-on-Wye - about an hour- but a pleasant one, and we took taxis recommended by the hosts on the way back. Overall, a wonderful getaway. (Book on their website if you can, it is cheaper and there are perks!)
