Fisherwood Farm was a great experience that I’d definitely recommend to everyone big or small! Carol was so lovely and welcoming when we arrived and happily answered our (many!) questions throughout the visit. We were able to park directly inside the gate and clear directions were provided in an email the day before as there’s a lot of narrow windy paths along the private road. After a short introduction to the alpacas, we were directed to a cosy cabin to make ourselves comfortable, with ample refreshments. Having the entire slot to yourselves is definitely a bonus as you can choose how you spend that time.
The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious and they even catered to a nut intolerance and made an alternative cake. It was brought out in 3 courses and was paced very well to not be too overwhelming and we were left to it in between to go and feed the alpacas as and when we wished to. First round was crustless quiche and 3 sandwich options, second was Eton mess, brownies and cake, and the third was freshly baked warm scones with cream, jam and fresh fruit. Everything is homemade, with the veg grown on the farm and eggs from the chickens. We were stuffed and couldn’t finish it all but Carol kindly provided us a bag to take it home in.
Word of advice: wear suitable wellies/boots! (We unfortunately learnt this the hard way with our wishful thinking for good weather). It can get incredibly muddy and slippery and trainers aren’t the best choice! We had such a great time and the 2 hours flew by- we’ll definitely be back again!
