This building is old but very well looked after. The hotel was perfect for our weekend break. Stayed 4 nights and couldn't fault the place. The hotel was clean and tidy and well stocked.|The staff were very friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable about local areas and places to enjoy an evening meal out. The staff could do much more to help.|The room we had was an upgrade so it was perfect for what we needed.|Spacious and clean. Quirky little shower room, but that's what you would expect in an old building.|The hotel is close to many local villages and also to towns and cities. With easy access to roads from hotel.|All in all the hotel just made the weekend perfect |

If you love old buildings you'll love this hotel. |The host was really friendly, polite and welcoming.|The room is what you expect from a building with such age and historical value.|The breakfast was really nice and plenty to choose for the kids.||My only gripe was having to park under the trees which resulted in a very messy car the next morning which involved a level of cleaning.||Other than that I highly recommend, I'd definitely stay again.

The Chalk Farm Hotel was perfect for our weekend break.
Great location easy access to visit places. The staff were very helpful. And very knowledgeable of local areas and places to visit and eat out.
The room was very generous as we had a small upgrade.
The whole experience of the hotel and area was perfect for a break before starting the Christmas shenanigans lol 😂

My friends and I stayed for 2 nights, we had a family room with a double bed and two singles, which was lovely. The bedding was very clean and the shower room/toilet was ok, it was clean but the whole thing really needs a bit of TLC, it would be first class if given a small wipe down on the wood work and a bit of white paint in the bathroom to hide the mould stains on the back of the sink and the shower. The shower curtain could also do with changing. Lots of dust and dirt around the beds wall side on the floor. We loved the quirky style of the hotel, the history of the place is interesting. The staff were lovely and the breakfast outstanding, best cooked breakfast ever. I would recommend the hotel but the rooms do not look like the pictures and I believe our room is the picture shown in the advert above but the decor not the same anymore ! Would however recommend it as long as you are not expecting what you see in the pictures.

I chose the hotel because of its association with George Orwell's book 'Animal Farm'. It is a charming small hotel with eight rooms and a lovely garden. The traditional English breakfast in the morning was delicious.

P.S. We had dinner in a Red Lion pub. I highly recommend them for their hospitality and enormously vast portions of fresh food.
I took a salad (on the pic), my friends had burgers and chips - also good

This hotel is a hidden gem! ||The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The room is cosy and feels very homelike. The breakfast is hot and tasty and the host is very experienced in what he does.||No faults with the hotel however it was a little bit musky and hot during the night, however a small fan was provided. The hotel was a little dusty, however it is extremely old and there is lots of fragile paintings and lighting.

Unique place. Very old. Breakfast very nice. You can have large or small cooked breakfast along with toast yogurt etc. Nice outlook.

A beautiful hotel which is a hidden gem in the heart of Eastbourne. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the entire hotel is clean and cosy.

The family room is big and spacious with a nice shower and comfortable beds.
