Very helpful and friendly team. We have just taken delivery of a Lockdown Box. On opening, it was obviously well packed with a combination of wool and ice packs. After a quick inspection of the individual packs, it is clear that the meat is of the highest quality. Thoroughly recommend this company!

We’ve been using another local butchers and queuing for their meat as it’s very popular. However, this week we travelled a little further and tried South Downs Butchery and so glad we did! It is hands down the best butchers in our local area. The meat and stir fry selections are great, they offer marinated meats too and they taste unbelievable! Spent a small fortune as there was so much on offer!! I won’t be using anywhere else now!

I personally would like to see the meat on the counter with prices on nothing nothing is priced which puts me right off as you have to ask how much everything is most people have a budget to work to and it would be nice to be able to see the price so you know how much you will be paying

We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have this business right here in our town. Matt and his exceptional team display an extraordinary level of expertise and genuine passion for their craft. While there are other butchers in the area recommended on local social media pages, based on my personal experience, they merely provide average service and don't stand out from typical supermarket offerings.

South Downs, on the other hand, sets itself apart from competitors in several ways. Firstly, their knowledgeable staff willingly engages in conversations about various cuts of meat and provides excellent advice. Secondly, the quality of their products surpasses that of any other butcher in the area. Finally, something truly special about South Downs is that they dry age their own steaks.

I strongly urge you to visit South Downs and seize the opportunity to purchase a delectable t-bone steak. I can assure you that it will be an experience without regrets.

We are indeed very fortunate to have Matt and his team at South Downs Butchery, Henfield. We had the best rump steak last week. Tender, flavourful and well aged. T-bones are truly impressive especially to us South Africans! He makes marvellous boerewors specially, and just as we like it. He has a great selection of homemade sausages as well as a variety of prespiced meat cuts. Prepped and ready to cook.

A great selection of meaty treats all of which is very good quality and tasty. I don't buy my meat from anywhere else now.
They change the marinated items every week as well as their sausage flavours. So keep an eye out for the new and different flavours and give them a try. Especially the meat truffles.
If you can't find something you are looking for, then ask them as they might have it in the back or they can prepare it for you for the following week.
The staff are always friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the produce they are selling. If you ever have a question, they are more then willing to help you out.

The village has been missing a butcher for a good few years. The wait, though painful, was well worth it. Open for just a few weeks they have already built a level of customer loyalty befitting their produce and butchering skills. Provenance is key to me and it's great to know where your meat comes from. Ask and they'll tell you. The dry aged meat fridge is a sight to behold so for people of a carnivorous nature this place is a total must. Great meat, great service and I'm made up we have such an amazing local trader in the heart of the village.
