This is one of the two meat box companies that I have used to purchase ethically sourced, free range meat.

I can honestly say that The Well Hung Meat Company have excellent customer service and are 100% committed to making sure that customers are happy with their purchases.

As a company they have a wide range of pre- set boxes to chose from as well as options to add other items or create your own selection.

So what are the Pros and Cons?

Cons
Personally for me one of the down sides is that many of the preset boxes contain bacon, sausages and sliced meats (ham/ pastrami). As I buy meat boxes for 'Meal' meats (main meals) I found that these cuts of meats were not beneficial to me and therefore I was unable to get the most out of the boxes. However I do have to follow a specialised diet due to health reasons so my eating habits are probably unlike the average person. If you like a full English, or have children who take a packed lunch to school then this would probably be perfect for you.

Pros
There are so many good things to say about this company and I have to start by saying that the quality of the meat is excellent.

I also like how you can add preferences to your account such as selecting gluten free, whether you want smoked or non smoked items, whether they can include organ meats to name a few of the options available.

Another bonus is being able to change how often you have your box delivered or the type of box you want (As long as you make your changes before the cut off before your regular box is due to take payment). You can also chose to make one off orders too.

If you haven't yet tried a meat box company then I highly recommend The Well Hung Meat Company. As an added bonus they often have an offer for new customers - if that's not enough to tempt you then take a look at their steaks, I'm pretty sure that will swing it!

Groupon scam. Buy a voucher that doesn't work on the website, spend the next 2 months trying to sort it out then get your meat box. A month later much to my surprise a £44 box of meat arrives on my doorstep. Apparently I have signed up to a subscription and have been emailed details. I assure you I haven't buy no one there is interested when I called. Very sneaky and underhand. When I spoke on the phone initially to your company no one said it was a subscription, EVER. I have paid £44 for 4 chicken thighs (which I don't eat), 4 slices of bacon, sausages, beef chuck steak - a seasonal cut? Because everyone makes casserole in August?! And a fatty looking piece of bone in Lamb shoulder. Why would I want lamb shoulder in August? Incredible amount of second rate cuts for £44. I KNOW it's organic, I've been eating organic meat for years but I don't appreciate such low end cuts if meat for my money. Avoid.

A copy of my complaint to PayPal who understandably did not uphold my complaint - check the wording on the website on returns - Buyer Beware would be my advice.

I am requesting a full refund as this Christmas Lunch joint was inedible and as a very experienced meat eater for over 40 years, I am perfectly comfortable about my decision to reject this product as not of acceptable quality and not as described as "well hung" which in my experience (and any chef or meat eater will agree, implies a tenderness not found in meat which is not well hung)Meat is a natural product and while I have no doubt the supplier makes every effort possible to ensure the highest quality, it is perfectly normal to have a poor quality cut on occasion and as the supplier did not have the meat to sample and I did, its is my belief I am the only person who can make an informed judgement on the quality of this meat.I did vacuum pack about 1/3 of this joint which was unused and offered the supplier to collect it and sample this for himself as I was confident he too would agree it was not to their expected standard but they declined this. A missed opportunity in my view to amicably settle a dispute and keep a new customer rather than as has happened, leave me in a position where I would never buy from this company again.

Another brilliant regular box from you guys, and gals. Particularly liked the feather steak and the cooking chorizio was a revelation, just amazing. The pastrami was as usual excellent.
