Always a favourite stop off when travelling to/from the Lake District or Skipton. The Yorkshire pasties and sausage rolls are to die for. Cannot complain as the staff are wonderful, and helpful, and always so friendly and happy. Our favourite butchers; we try to stop at whenever we are in the area. Thank you for your high quality products and great staff.

My wife and I have been regular shoppers at Lishman’s butchers In Ilkley for years. We have always found the staff helpful and friendly and the meat second to none. However, since the shop was refurbished in 2022 (and this may be a coincidence), we have noticed one or two changes and offer our opinion as follows:-

The thin pork sausages have always been a favourite of ours, but recently the prepackaged packs of ten look paler and on cooking seem less meaty and taste bland.

On one occasion the Chicken Kievs we purchased were lacking in garlic butter. We mentioned this on our next visit and they gave us two free of charge. All credit to Lishman’s for that kind gesture. More recently, we purchased Chicken Kievs but on cooking we found them to be filled with a brown spicey paste which was not to our liking. Obviously a different product.

In our opinion and in whatever form, the beef and lamb have always been first class.

Got to try the sausages and sausage rolls when they came to Japan. They visited the Hankyu Department store in Osaka.

Sausage rolls were fantastic, thought I was going to cry as it had been years since I had one. It was if my whole life in the Ribble Valley UK flashed before my eyes with the sausage roll spinning in front of me like some holy epiphany. The memory of my grandfather who recently had a devastating stroke that’s took a lot of who he was from us, taking me to Ilkley in Yorkshire for a graduation meal.

I ended up buying about 8 sausage rolls over the week they were here in Japan.

Tried their sausages as well. Got a bunch of them sat in my freezer, tried a few and they were divine and far beyond me. Now they sit in my freezer for the next year until I find a moment I feel worthy enough to eat them.

Following on my last review, see below...I got a really fast and good response from Lishman's with a full explanation of why they pre-package (environmentally friendly packaging was mentioned) and where the weight reference was (last thing on the back of the pack, after full detail of contents). Now very happy to amend my review to 5 stars for excellent comeback, tho' suggest a weight to cost ratio on the front label might avoid misunderstanding. And, of course, as always the product itself is top quality.

"Very disappointed to see that rather being served from the counter the Champion sausages are pre-packed (one of the reasons I go to the butcher is for less packaging) and not only that, no weight measurement given on the pack (only a verbal assurance that it was about a pound, which it wasn't, being considerably less at 388g) and also no price per kilo given on the pack. Product is still good, of course, but just felt that this was not the way it should be and rather off-putting."

Always the best, their chicken cushions are fantastic value at £8 and do me a hot and a cold meal plus sandwiches. I bought 2 fillet steaks for £28 as a special meal for my homecoming son and they were just superb - definitely the best I’ve eaten. All the produce from Lishman’s is top quality and well worth the money.
