The Old Coal Yard or the Northern Alchemy brewery is one of our favourite places. Carl, the owner, has got it just right in terms of space, numbers, atmosphere, and the right number of Cask or Ceg beers. Safe and happy environment. Very welcoming.

Northern Alchemy is a class act! fantastic, natural beers. with no minging ‘finings’ (fish swim bladders) which means all of the flavors chosen for the beers are exactly as it should taste. I've never met such a bunch of hard-working people, that care about the local community. Six stars out of five!

Brewery which is open to all Fri to Sunday. Excellent beer and very friendly staff. Quirky interior, converted from an old coal merchants. Cobbled floor and original brick walls.
