We did the Herdwick Experience with Jo. It was magical. Jo is an enthusiast in the best sense. Her knowledge on the topics of Yew Tree Farm and Herdwick Sheep is vast, and she shares it in a personable way. Then we went to meet the sheep. A wonderful experience. Real "therapy" with these gentle creatures. Time and money very well spent.

Absolutely stunning venue, we had our wedding there this summer (2024). They really allow you to put your own style on your wedding whilst still giving good guidance and help. We had a fab weekend with people camping in the field. Mel, Jo, and John made us feel so welcome they made the day go so smoothly giving us the chance to really relax and enjoy the day.

I visited this farm a few days ago and picked up a Cumberland sausage!! Was very good quality and delicious. Would recommend visiting this farm as they had lots of other meat available too, chickens wandering around and lovely farm dogs.

Just had a fantastic time at Yew tree farm on the Herdwick sheep experience. I can’t tell you how good it was being so close to the lovely sheep. You literally sit down and they come to you for feeding and stroking. Thanks to our tour guide Mel - her knowledge about these Herdwick sheep is amazing and she explains all about them before you go and see the sheep. ? ||A day out my wife and I will always remember. I urge you to book and go for yourself - you won’t be disappointed. ||Thanks to all on the farm for the best experience in the Lakes ||Gary n Pam Kenyon

Simply put..a 'magical experience'.
I have had a 'bee in my bonnet' for ages regarding a visit to Yew Tree Farm and this morning I sorted it.
On arrival I was greeted by a friendly Jack Russell and a very handsome Sheepdog..both of whom are supremely friendly and tame.
The two black cats were a little more circumspect but I am sure with a little more time we could be friends.
The whole farm 'screams' authenticity and after a few minutes I met the tremendously friendly, helpful & professional on site Farmer/Butcher who could not have been more helpful.
I purchased a very fresh half shoulder of Lamb at a very competitive price.
I urge any reader of this review to please make the effort to visit.
A highly recommended experience.

Great experience if you love the herdwick sheep or sheep overall. Jo was really friendly, nice and had great knowledge of the breed. It was very interesting to listen to her talk about the heritage of the sheep. The highlight of course was meeting the lovely herdwick sheep. It was absolutely amazing and loved every minute. The sheep were so friendly and it was a pleasure. Will definitely do it again

An amazing place!
Fabulous, spacious, idyllic, beautifully unique holiday cottage. Value is added by way of an on-site butchery, supplying some of the finest Herdwick lamb and Galloway beef. After a long day hiking on the fells, what better reward is there than a plateful of excellent, locally produced fayre.
The hosts are welcoming, friendly and their extensive local knowledge is useful for anyone new to the area.
